Summer Weightloss Challenge

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I really hoped to code some neat stuff for the new challenge, but with some new challenges in my own life (newly single dad, new pastor, moving to a new house in a new town, you know, little things like that =) ) I just haven't had the chance.

I have, however, set up a new challenge, beginning this Monday and ending ON Labor Day.

On Monday, please weigh in and post your beginning weight here. If you don't want your weight posted, tell me to post it as "0", and we'll only track what you've lost, not what you weigh.

Peace,

Jonathan

P.S. The site is here:

Hey Brother! Good to see you back in business.

You know Im in on this!

Last I heard, Penni recommended us having before pics in bathing suits.

I think she's lost her mind.

I agree with Paula (that is about Penni losing her mind!) I don't mind before pics...and I would even do it in shorts, but not a bathing suit! :)

Yay Jonathan! You are so off the hook with "coding some new stuff" ??? we are here and ready! Add me to your list and see you Monday!

Okay, I'd rather not do bathing suits, either, but I do like Crystals idea of having the Before and After pic in the same outfit. If we don't post the pics on Waisting Away, we can at least post them here. I'll get my pic taken this weekend and will weigh in Monday morning. I'm excited!!

I would love to do this, but I am not having my surgery until Thursday. Is this ok, can I start it up with you guys? Let me know. I would love to do this. I am so looking forward to Thursday and getting it over with. My nerves are on edge.

Angie and anyone else...

ANYONE is welcome to join, no matter where you are on your journey.

For me, its easier to aim for a goal, so I recommend -10 pounds in 10 weeks. Others are interested in more or less weight loss. Whatever goal you feel comfortable attaining is fine with us. ;)

Im copying and pasting from the other challenge...

LaMadam actually strated the original one. Everyone was complaining about not losing any weight. So the challenge was started to show us that we ARE losing, we just cant see it on a daily weigh in, but we CAN see it on a weekly or bi-monthly weigh in.

Oh, and Jonathan has a web site that he adds our names, starting weight, current weight and goal weight. Seems easier to keep track of!

So, on Monday it starts!!!!

Now Penni....if you wish to wear a bathing suit for your pic....GO FOR IT GIRL! More power to you!

Yes, Penni! Oh puleeze wear your bathing suit!!! LOL Do it girl!

Angie, your band date just may put you as the top winner on weight loss! Last Challenge, Jammin Jamie won...she had gone through her pre-op liquid diet, too. She lost a bunch! Jump on in girl! We ain't skeerd! Actually, the real challenge is the personal one, it's not so much a race with each other. But it's fun to see the stats at the end, see how everyone did!

If you guys post the pictures here, I'll get the code written SOMETIME this summer, and then I can just upload them to the site then. I think that's a great idea =)

I don't know about wearing the same clothes though. I lost my shorts in the electronics section of Wal-Mart last night. Fortunatley, nobody saw me... I think anyway. I went straight to the Men's section and bought a new belt ;) I think it might take suspenders to keep them up by the end of the summer =)

Jonathan (50 lbs down as of this morning! 56" waist to a *gasp* 48" waist!)

OMG Jonathan....you what?????

Regarding the bathing suit issue....I thought, hmmmm....I'll go try mine on (just considering), BUT it's too big! I mean, around the waist and belly, there are folds of the suit fabric and let's not get started about the bustline! I'm not buying another for this as I probably won't do a bunch of swimming this summer, but next summer.....watch out!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
