A Few Questions...

Recommended Posts

Hey All!

1. I went in for my 4th fill yesterday and thought I was going to pass out. Fills 2 and 3 were quick and easy. Yesterday, my surgeon could not get the needle to pierce the port. I made him stop and try again from a different angle, so to speak. He still could not get it. At this point, I am woozy, clammy, and shaky. Normally I can grin and bear it, but the pain was unusually intense this time. I finally told him to stop and that I would come back another day. It was horrible. Now he wants to do the fill at the hospital under the flouroscope. Has anyone had a fill experience like this? Any advice would be great!

2. Also, one odd quirk I am experiencing. When I eat at home, I have absolutely no restriction...none at all. But when I go out with my family, I take 2 or 3 bites and I'm done. I am eating the same types of food... grilled chicken or salmon...especially salmon.

3. I am at 3cc's in a 10cc band with little to no restriction. How many fills or how many cc's until you reach your "sweet spot"?

Thank you in advance for all your advice!

Now he wants to do the fill at the hospital under the flouroscope. Has anyone had a fill experience like this? Any advice would be great!Yes, my port is slightly tilted and at times they have problems finding it the first time. It's usually quite easy, but recently she had to stick me 4 times. They want to use fluro because it's much easier to see the port, I think.

2. Also, one odd quirk I am experiencing. When I eat at home, I have absolutely no restriction...none at all. But when I go out with my family, I take 2 or 3 bites and I'm done. I am eating the same types of food... grilled chicken or salmon...especially salmon. I have this same issue sometimes. I chalk it up to two things: Talking and eating at the same time (not paying attention!) and trying to 'keep up' with everyone else at the table who are always eating much faster than I! I always feel like I'm holding everyone up and try to keep pace! HA! Like that's ever gonna happen!! But after all this time I'm finally learning just to take my time... what's the hurry? Old habits are hard to break!

3. I am at 3cc's in a 10cc band with little to no restriction. How many fills or how many cc's until you reach your "sweet spot"? Hate to tell you this, but Everyone Is Different! Bet you've heard that before! If you're at 3cc's and have had 3 fills then you're doc is filling you at a fairly slow pace...but that really is GOOD! If you're not feeling restriction, just make your next appt. as soon as he will allow. (my doc allows 3+ weeks between appts).

Good luck to you!

I have a 10 cc Realize Band and I have 5.5 cc's and I do have quite a bit of restriction. It is especially tight in the mornings. I only got half a cc the last time. I do not want to be to tight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
