cleanseing the body...and preop diet

Recommended Posts

So i perhaps just want to tell someone this, but no one here will listen...so anyway... i am going to do a 7 day total body cleanse...starting tommorow 9/21 then on October 2 i start my pre op diet....3 carnation instant shakes...and two fruits. i assume i can drink anything clear though...which i will talk to the dr about. I really want to tell my parents although i don't want to get the ignorant factor of the whole thing...for instance when i told my sister her brillient mind told me..."its easy...just cut down portions" ...i felt like saying no sh**..really?? Why didn't i think of that. I love how people who are skinny can have a say on how easy it is..

Hi there,

I'm listening, my surgery is on the 01.10.2008 and I'm doing Optifast at the moment, need to lose 5kg before op.

I have opinionated people around me too, my closest friend is anti lap band and has tried to talk me out of it based on one horror story.

Ive lost 3.5kg in the first week and I'm feeling good. Empty but good.

I think what you are doing is really good cause you are physically and menatlly preparing yourself for the tough weeks ahead.

Good on you, please let me know how you go:thumbup:

there is a lot that needs to be done...i did tell my sisters but not the parents...although the sisters are starting to threaten me that they will tell them..now...i thought this was my desicion on who to tell and not their business??? Also...the husband told his whole work!!! Talk about embarrassment. I am only embarrased because it was lunch time when everyone was inside. I didn't know how to react when his boss was talking with me about it! hubbs is definilty not a sensitive guy!

Hi,

We all listen, why do you say we don't listen? I did a liver flush before my surgery, kinda like the whole body cleanse. I didn't do the pre-op diet because I was on a cruise with my daughter before my surgery and because my bmi was 40 my Dr. did not insist on it. I have not told many people about my surgery but when you do, it becomes their business. Hubby was probably being supportive in his own way by telling his co-workers and he might have been a little scared, it is always scarry having someone you love have surgery no matter how simple it is. I love my band and would do it over again in a minute. Congrats on your decision and your parents will be proud of you too when they start seeing the changes.

Blessings,

Sally

PS: I thought I didn't eat enough to maintain my weight before the band but I couldn't loose. Now I realize how little you need to eat to reach your goal. NO wonder I did't loose, not I have lost 45 lbs since April and feel great.

I think it is your story and your journey, it is not the place of your husband or sisters to tell people. This is a huge and very personal decision. Be proud of your decision and I'm sure that those around you will be proud of you and supportive. I created a thread yesterday "I've made a decision to change my life" in the introductions section there I talked about other peoples issues and my own issue feeling embarassed that I did not have the discipline and drive to do this on my own. A woman there used an anaology of a pace maker, please check it out and read some of the advise others have given me, it really has changed my views on some of things I was worried about.

So i am on day 1 of the seven day cleanse "GNC Preventive Nutrition® Complete Body Cleansing Program and i was told that this works great, although according to many people i have talked to it didn't work at all...infact it made them constipated. Should i continue this or return it to the store? I bought it thinking to clean myself out and start new, although from today's results alone....i think exlax does a better job!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
