Banded August 15th

Recommended Posts

Hi. I was banded on August 15th at 8:30 in the am. Never having had surgery before I wasn't sure how I would do but it was way better than I expected!:(

The worst part was just waking up from the anesthesia and feeling so sick to my stomach. I've been one of the lucky ones without the gas pains in the shoulder so far.

I was a bit upset about the 12 lbs I gained the day of surgery but lost it within the first few days plus 6 more. :biggrin2:

I'm feeling really good and went back to work last Thursday. I'm on full liquids until this Thursday. Really looking forward to some scrambled eggs! lol. I have a little bit of head hunger but I'm not starving so far.

My worst problem now is since yesterday my skin is red and itchy for about an inch around my port incision. All my incisions still have the steri-strips on them. I'm supposed to leave them on until Thursday unless they fall off. I also have some itchy red welts around my other incisions.

I'm not running a fever and nothing really hurts just very, very itchy. I'm thinking maybe a reaction to the streri-strips or something? I will call my Dr. tomorrow if it stays like this.

I am so happy to be on this side of the surgery and on my way to a healthier, more comfortable me!!!

Congrats to all the August All-Stars!!! :banghead:

Dani -you sound great. I was also banded on 8/15. I went home at 5pm and agree the toughest part was waking right after surgery. I got the chills pretty bad right after, but that passed quick, I also had no real gas pains and returnd to work Mon & Tues half days following surgery then full days. Not itchy yet.

I just started mushy's and scrambled eggs are my best friend, egg drop Soup, I like my chochlate whey and 4oz skim milk in the blener w/ crushd ice...my appetite is starting to really come back, but my mind set is to really make this work. half hour per day on the teadmill.

I'm down 14lbs in 9days and loving my band...and new life....

Congrats on the awesome weight loss GaryB! I have to admit I'm jealous of those scrambled eggs. lol.

I was supposed to advance to that last Thursday but at my post-op visit my surgeon said they had just made it a new policy to have full liquids for 2 weeks instead of 1...oh well... 3 more days.

I'm loving my band too!

Thanks Gary! Yep as far as I'm aware we all stay overnight here in Australia! I am kinda glad for that and kinda wish I could go to my own bed :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
