Weirdest NSV for me

Recommended Posts

I was looking thru the clearance bakery stuff yesterday for Snacks for my husband and son and there was a man standing next to me looking too. He said something about how good they looked but not that neither he or I needed them. Now this might sound rude but it was said in such a nice way and he must have been 65 so it wasn't some young rude boy remark. Afterwards I realized what a compliment it really was for me. 6 months and 98 pounds ago no one would have made a remark about my weight. I was the oddity in the room that everyone pretended didn't exist. Now I'm such a normal amount overweight that he felt perfectly comfortable joking with me. Nice! I guess..... LOL

Oh, that is too funny. Isn't it neat how our whole outlook has changed. I would have been offended by that comment six months ago but now I'm like you, I'd take it as a compliment. Thanks for sharing.

I have also noticed that people are more engaging now...more eye contact, just saying hello, holding doors open, that kind of thing. I really felt invisible before.

I had a weird NSV on Friday. I was at work and one of my regular customers came in. She said, "Are you related to Jaime?" I said, "Um, what?" She repeated it. I said, "I AM Jaime." She goes, "Oh my, I didn't even recognize you, you've lost a lot of weight, haven't you?" LOL That made me feel pretty good. I only see my customers about once a month usually, and some of them I've worked with for 2+ years now, but she's only the THIRD one to even make a comment and definitely the first to comment like that. LOL

That's a great one Jaime! Bet you laughed and then beamed for a long time on that one.

I've also noticed people are much more social with me now. I know that part of it is me but it's definately them too.

Those are GREAT NSV's!! I had someone do the whole "I didn't recognize you" thing a couple of weeks ago. I can't deny...it was pretty freaking awesome!! I haven't mentioned this on the other threads but everyone is looking absolutely incredible!! Such big changes!!! YAY DOUBLE V's!!!

I had one workmate on another floor ask me if I was sick and if I was OK because I had lost so much weigh. I laughed internally and said, absolutely that I was fine, I was losing weight deliberately.

If only they knew!:crying:

Ezma -- great that you saw the positivity in that event. (And WOW! You're hurtling down the road to normalcy at twice the speed I am!! You GO, Girl!)

A friend of mine back where I used to live was showing around some photos from my daughter's wedding she attended in June. One gal, who I've known for 30 years, asked "Where's Pam?" When my friend pointed me out, she realized I'd been in quite a few photos -- she just hadn't recognized me.

That was a cool NSV.

Yeah, I'm sure he was one, it just didn't feel like it. Guess it's me that's feeling good about where I'm at now. Too bad for him. Plus it's true, before he would have never dared say anything like that. LOL - look at me - I've lost so much weight, I can now be insulted. Hahaha - that is truly funny to me and best part is I could buy the bakery stuff and even eat a couple Cookies and I'm still losing weight. Bet that cake he got is sitting right on his gut about now.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
