Melboyd, so glad to hear that you've made it through and you and that you working through the discomfort of those 500+ sit-ups!:)

My discomfort is getting easier by the day and I still can't see how I would have been able to go to work Monday, if I had to - I feel like taking it easier for longer than that and am glad to be able to do so. I took a percocet before bed last night and slept very, very well. I planned on taking an early mornin nap, but I'm no where near tired yet. This is good. I walk to get the belches & gases flowing (those are the only discomforts); I've been taking in liquid tylenol for this.

Have been sucking on a couple of GasX strips every few hours.

Haven't felt much hunger at all - I tried the broth and don't really like it; I'm sipping Protein shakes, sipping Water. SF popsicles are my all time favorite these days!

Looking forward to having cream Soups (blenderized) next week.

Hoping everyone gets better very, very soon - Best of Luck for those on the way to Band-Land!!

Quick note before I go take a nap.

I am now among the banded. Had the surgery yesterday. Very glad they talked me into staying the night. Still sore, but overall everything went very well. Everyone was super nice. Had surgery around 9:30. Was up and walking by 1:00. One other lady there banded right before me - we talked and walked quite a bit.

I'm rambling, so the meds must be kicking in. More later.:smile2:

I have had better luck walking my soreness through.

Several people have compared the pain to a c-section. And, the BEST advice I got from my Lamaze coach was (she was preparing us, if we had to have a c-section, which I did) the first chance you get to stand up, to stand up as straight and tall as you can. And, to do this every time you stand up. Not to walk around all hunched over. Doing that does nothing to help get your muscles back in whack.

So, I did it. All the nurses were SOOOO impressed with me. But, I was ready to get my catheter out, and she told me that I had to be able to walk to the bathroom to get it out. So, I was going to stand up and walk, like a Pro, no matter what.

But, I have no CLUE what I am talking about, when it comes to banding surgery and the pain. I mean a c-section is lower abdominal and this is upper. But, I don't think it could hurt to stand up straight.

Checking in again,

So I am not hungry at all! Weird. I have been eating chicken broth, Water and more chicken broth. I walked around my house a lot which is awesome. I hope my soreness goes away tomorrow :smile2: I must admit, today I asked myself, what did I get myself into? I guess a lot of people feel that way, hehe. Ok back to walking around. be good everyone!

:thumbup:Hello all my fellow Smashing Pumpkins. It has been 1 week today since I was Banded. Each day is a little better. But today I really feel great. Since the day of my pre-op appointment with my Doctor, September 18th, to today I have lost 24 lbs. My tummy is still a little bloated from surgery but I can already tell the difference. I am so confident that I am going to make it this time, I am already pulling clothes out of the closet and getting them ready for EBAY.

I even went out and got a hair cut. I had about 2 inches cut off. Even though I have a long way to go, I am ready. The swelling around the band must being doing better too because I can drink my Water easier. I don't get hungry but I was getting worried about getting all my water in for the day.

Good luck to all the Banded Smashing Pumpkins and to the ones that are yet to come. I wish you all speedy recoveries and pleasant experiences at the hospital. My hospital stay was only for about 8.5 hours but everyone was so nice and helpful.

Later,

Lone Star Loser:willy_nilly:

Prayers for mama g for tomorrow! (how did you manage a Saturday surgery???)

I had my pre-op appointment today and it was LONG as I had worked during the night and went straight to the appointment. One lady asked SO many questions that, IMO, she should have known the answers to at this point with only a week left until surgery. I was tired and irritable I guess! :)

I had some "bad" news today. My future first grandchild is likely to be born premature as my DIL has a bicornuate uterus. So many ups and downs right now! My oldest son is in town for the weekend from the

Army and it's so great to see him!

Enjoy your weekend pumpkin Smashers!

~~anne

October 11-mama g

Good luck on getting banded today mama g!

how did everyone pick their goal weight? Was it on the ideal weght chart? Good BMI? Where you were at a certain time in your life?

I had picked 160 because I haven't been that skinny since my sophmore year in HS, but I think I need to shoot for 140 or 145. I tell my kids to aim high to acomplish more. Maybe I need to aim high (or low in this case) to give me a getter chance of getting there.

My goals:

Onderland:

180 (over one hundred pounds gone forever):

160 (skinnier than I've been in 20 years):

140-145 :

OMG! I just up dated my ticker and realized that If I reach my goal I will have lost an entire person / half of my weight. Yep that is deffinitely my new goa!!!!

What are your weight goals and how did you pick them?

Linda, how was surgery?

Hi Bikini. Thanks for your god wishes and checking in with me. Surgery so far as been a breeze. A little discomfort. The gas started some today. Thank Goodness for the heating pad! I removed the QBall (pain pump, kinda) today and no pain doing it at all. I am getting a shower as soon as I go on my walk. I have walked every day since surgery twice yesterday. Right now I am not feeling any hunger. Sure hope it continues!

Good luck on your surgery!!

LindaL.:)

I am getting excited too, but a little nervous. Totally freaked out actually.

I had all my pre-op testing done on Friday. It was uneventful. I knew what to expect, as I have done all those tests before. My Doctor made me do the breathing test in his office, and they left me alone in the room for the 10 mins. I totally fell asleep and the tube fell out of my mouth! Not once but twice! I was so tired! I had had nothing to eat or drink since the night before, so I was stimulant free!!

Good to see another Texas pumpkin. You are going the day after me.

Hi Anne, praying for the new-coming baby. I am believing that everything will turn out just fine.

Best Wishes and Great Health to all of you who have been banded an who will be banded very soon!!!

---------------

My goal weight was given to me by my surgeon.

---------

I did a lot of walking today - through Walmart and through the hair stores.

Picked up a few cream of chicken/tomato/potato Soups that I'm supposed to blenderize (beginning next week). Picked up some low fat yogurt to mix in with the whey Protein powder that I've picked up - will mix with ice to make good shakes next week.

Since I was finally able to get a bit more Protein in yesterday, I believe I slept better last night and have more energy today.

I am getting dressed up later this evening to attend a sit down birthday dinner out at some fancy place for my cousin. Can't believe I'm feeling well enough to go, but I am. Looking forward to getting out and enjoying the company. One of my cousins was banded over 2 years ago and will be there - she won't know until I tell her that I've been banded. She'll be happy as heck! I saw her two months ago and was in the same nail shop with her - had NO idea who she was. She looks AMAZING!!:) I'm so inspired by her success.

Am curious about the whey Protein. I was given a list of liquid Protein Shakes such as Muscle Milk, EAS, etc. I was banded on Monday, 10/6 and ready to eat my arm off today, not to mention have been sleepless the last two nights. Those of you that have tried the Whey Protein does it help your hunger and how is your sleeping. Taste? Also..... Am I the only one hungry? I'm so embarrassed, but I'm simply being honest. THANKS FOR LISTENING! 10 lbs. lost and trying to not eat my limbs.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
