Thanks for all the well wishes! I made it! A lot more sore than I thought but evidently I also had a hiatal hernia repair and that has added to the soreness. I decided to not be a hero and stick with the liquid lortab for a few days so I've been sleeping a lot. Lots of Water and GasX strips too.

I do get up and move but it hurts, especially to breathe in deep (probably because of the hernia repair). I feel better today (Sunday) and have switched to liquid tylenol.

I did sleep in the recliner for the first two nights and slept in my bed last night with a dose of Lortab and a pillow under my side. I'm also moving better today, actually felt like picking up the house. :tt2: But I didn't... I'm not sure if I'll make it back to work on Tuesday or not.

Vidahlia. Glad to hear you are up and moving. Did you know you had the hiatal hernia before you went in? Believe it or not I still have my Water bed and there is NO way I can get in and out of it yet, so I have been sleeping in the spare bed room. I am sleeping pretty well. I had surgery on Friday and I am feeling a lot better today. I feel like straightening up the house but when I get up and give up. I don't want to over do it. I can't believe that you are having to go back to work Tuesday. I guess I am lucking because I have two weeks off. And I am going to take it easy and get some sewing in.

Keep up the good work and keep drinking your water.

Take care.

Lonestar.. Nope, didn't know about the hernia beforehand. And I am going to only go 1/2 day on Tuesday & Wednesday but have a meeting that was planned 8 weeks ago on Thursday that I am leading for all of our out of area employees. So, I guess I have to go to work most of the day on Thursday. Especially since my co-worker totally forgot about the meeting and decided this week is the week to go visit her mother!

I know how you feel about getting up to do something and then stopping. :tt2: I started to do dishes, but decided bending over to load the dishwasher would hurt too much! I actually had my son find my trash picker upper thing so I could pick up stuff without bending over!

I am glad to hear that you're feeling better today too!

Hey everyone...I just touchdown from the plane about 5 hours ago. I had surgery on Friday(1o-o3-o8) and I must say that I feel like sh*t. I don't wanna sound like a big baby.. But my shoulders ache and idk why, my throat hurt the first day(from the tube) terrible gas(that's expected but uncomfortable)

The biggest shocker for me is not actually having pain from the incisions...more from the problems above. They put an incision on my bra line(how stupid) and it makes getting in and out of bed a real pain in my ass.

Ok I just had to vent...now that's done...im so happy to be a bandster and im so shocked by the restriction im having already...cud be gas tho. I think I have a 1mm fill but I still have a hard time drinking Water. Tea goes down just fine. Good luck to all of you future bandsters and all smashing pumpkins already banded.

I noticed that Froggi began a spreadsheet for the November folks. I started one for the Smashing Pumpkins (October bandsters) if anyone is interested.

If you send me your email address, I'll give you edit permissions. :-)

Sounds like a good idea my email is mboyd4@msn.com Not to sound stupid but since I don't have excel I wouldn't be able to do it would I?

Best of luck to all of those who are going in tomorrow!

Actually you will b/c Google holds the version of "excel" in its program. Cool huh? (It also has Word and powerpoint.)

OK you guys, no more calling yourselves "stupid"! I have used excel for years and years but know nothing about, say, health/medicine. We all have our strengths so again, no more calling yourselves "stupid"! <jumping off soapbox>

Anyone can open the spreadsheet but only those that have given me their email addresses will be able to edit their own details. :)

I would also love to start a thread. I am getting banded Oct 14th at Maples in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I am on day 6 of Optifast and am really needing support! I can have 3 Optifast and up to 2 cups of non-starch vagetables a day. Apart from wanting to chew my own arm off - things are great!! I am so looking forward to dealing with my weight issue once and for all. At least now when I do the right things I will see results.

Where is everybody from? I am from Regina Saskatchewan.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
