Hey Julie - so nice to put a face with a name. You look fantastic! Wow! What amazing changes. Great job.

My sister encouraged me to pick up 4 5-pound bags of sugar when I was feeling down about my weight loss. That did the trick! Imagine lifting a 60 pound box!

Help! I have been on a plateau the whole month of January. I started working out January 2nd and it seems like the worst thing ever. I haven't lost any weight and I'm more hungry because of the working out. Any advise??

Julie.ann,

You look great. I was banded on Oct. 3, 2008 and I have lost 63 lbs. I feel GREAT. I still have 60 lbs to go, but I am 54 years old but I feel 30 years old.

Good Luck and keep going. We will be lookin' good in the summer.

My birthday is in June. I will be 35. I just decided what I want for my birthday...besides hitting the 100lbs lost.

I want clavacle bones!

Well today make 3 months since I've been banded and I am officially down 60 lbs since my pre-op two weeks prior to that. WOW! Here is some from the night quote]

----------------------------

Wow!! Julie.ann - you look amazing and I'll bet you feel awesome, right? You certainly look 'taller'. Now this is encouraging. I have a before & after too, I think I'll post as well.

Keep up the great work.

Tell me what are you eating habits. Do not stop working out. Again, give us a sample menu and tell me a bit about your work out! FYI, its been said that exercising curves the appetite.

Tamisha - I was on a plateau for most of the month of January as well. It has shown signs of breaking just in the last 3-4 days. Hang in there. Take care with your eating, and keep on exercising and it will happen for you. Frustrating, isn't it?

I did something nice for myself yesterday. I bought a bike! Now I'm praying for an early Spring. It has been 9 years since I've been on a bike - I was glad it came back quickly.

The bike is the blue one here: Phat Cycles - Nadine Cruiser Bicycle: Beach Cruiser

No, I'm not going to be doing any road racing with it, or climbing mountains, but I can ride the green belt with my daughter and ride to work. Just have to wait for warmer weather. I'm really excited.

KarenK. I bought me a bike yesterday too. It looks a lot like yours. It's a pink Schwin Retro. It looks like one from the 50's. Big tires with wide side walls and a bracker on the back to passengers. But I won't have any passengers. The weather here in Austin Texas has been great, it's 75 degrees now, so I have been out riding around the neighborhood. I have only fallen once. And that was in the driveway. But I have it under control now. Not too bad for someone that has not ridden a 2 wheel bike in over 20 years. I had a 3 wheel, (trike) motorcycle, but it is completely different.

It really feels good to be able to get out and exercise that thise. I would ride up to curves except I go early in the mornings and it is still dark. Someone might hit me.

Good luck to everyone.

KarenK/LoneStarLoser, thanks for the bike-reminder..... DH & I purchased a set last summer and rode them no more than 4x's. I just didn't have the energy - I told him everytime we went out to the bike trail. You have given me another hope for spring time; Now that I have some energy and have been doing much better on the treadmill, I know I can my tail on that bike and some exercise in. Last year, I'd get on it and sweat and breath so hard, that I would walk with the bike and not ride. Oh boy.

This is good incentive and when the snow finally melts, I'll be ready for DH!!

Enjoy your bikes!

NFaith - Great Photos!

My daughter has now decided she needs a beach cruiser bike. She actually has a very good mountain bike. She was ready for us to go take a ride today - it's 30 degrees here. I probably would have done it if I actually had the bike. The person I bought it from has it all put together, but wants to take it in to make certain the wheels are true. Since it's easier to ride a bike with actual round wheels, I wasn't going to tell him no!:tongue2:

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
