Nazzy, I hired a patient facilitator company I found by googling gastric surgery to help me jump through the hoops that BC/BS PPO has for gastric surgery. I started working with them in May and all the insurance hoops were jumped through two weeks ago. BC/BS should be paying 100% of the medical but not some of the doctor appointments and specialists that I had to see prior to getting approved that they required. They have come a long way in giving in since the first time I tried to have this done about 10 years ago.

Cyndy,

Can I ask where you found a local lap band support group. I have researched li

My support group is also a combined weight loss surgery group. It is given through my surgeons office. Good luck!

I am on for 10/14. Second day of pre-op diet. Could eat a whole cow I think!

I too am on my 2nd day of the pre-op diet. I did good yesterday until the evening time. I think I just waited too long to eat. Then I wanted to eat a cow also!! LOL! :cool2: I am going to try and not wait so long today before I eat dinner. Good luck to you on your second day. Please don't eat any cows! ;)

It is helpful to know that others are feeling the same things I am feeling.

Next Tuesday is going to be a real challenge. My sister is visiting from Texas. I prefer not to tell her what I am about to do...long story. Anyway, we are doing lunch with my brother's widow. I guess I will order ground round and a veggie and water or herbal tea and just tell her I am cutting back. My sister in law is an angel but she is unable to speak as a result of a stroke so it is going to be difficult to carry on a conversation while avoiding the weight talk.

My sister in law may not have had the stroke if she had followed our path and had lap band surgery. Just think of all the good that is going to come from learning new, healthy habits! YEAH to us!

Good Luck all OCT 2nd and 3rd.. bandsters.. I just got home from the hospital.. Surgery and recovery have not been so bad. Just please make sure you do what your doctor says... it is important to follow their rules.. Thanks for everyones well wishes .. I truly do appreciate it :cool2:

I got banded yesterday...oct 1st...home relaxing and sipping fluids. Feeling a little gassy but much better than expected!!! Good luck to all.. anyone getting banded in Fresno CA? Dr Felix did mine at Clovis community, they were awesome...:cool2:

Sorry I've been MIA! Congrats to all Smashing Pumpkins who've already been banded! That's awesome!!!

So...tell me more about this Wii Fit thing. How much does one of those run and is it more fun that Richard Simmons? LOL I laugh at him the entire time I'm doing his tapes (back in the day). I priced joining the YMCA and it was almost $85 for me an my hubby and almost $60 just for me per month! That's crazy expensive!!!

Thanks to everyone.. Yes I am feeling up to typing a little.. I keep wanting to fall asleep though haha..

Bridgette do they have curves where you live?? That club is only like 30 a month down here and I know a lot of people who like it.. Just keep them in mind I hear they are great. the Wii fit is $85 and you also have to have the WII. it is pretty cool if you have it. I bought it for my mom on her birthday and everyone seems to get joy it.. there is a weight limit of 330 lbs so i have not been able to every use it ha ha..

Thanks Cyndy! I am never giving up hope on this one!

Hi I am scheduled for lap band surgery at the maples clinic in winnipg manitoba canada on Oct 14th. I am on optifast for 3 weeks I am getting use to it now. Haven't cheated at all. Find that I am not really hungry fills me up. But I think about food especially potato soup even though I have had it only once. Scared but looking forward to it love this forum and all the advice to help me along. Congats to all the previous banded people. Will keep you advised of my progress.

Jan:smile2:

Hi! I am scheduled for October 15. I have AETNA and they require a 3-month diet/exercise program and even after that, approval is not a guarantee so I am self-pay now. I am using Credit Care. Is anyone else using it? I was very surprised by how easy it was to get a line of credit with them for this surgery. I didn't believe it at first. After that, things moved quickly. I am on day 1 of my pre-op liquid diet. Doc has me on Optifast. I am hungry!!!!

I'm With The Band:

Hang in there! I'm on day 10 of the liquid diet...it gets better on day 3. Your stomach will shrink a little and you get all of the "bad food" out of your body you won't have the cravings as bad. The only thing I'm missing is the chewing action. But I've lost 16 lbs in 10 days...not to shabby!

Can I just express how annoying it is when I post a whole reply and hit to post in and the site goes down.. SO ANNOYING..

anyways. I hope all the bandsters from yesterday and today are feeling well. I am doing ok. Still just a little sore, but it is tolerable..

I was not feel at all hungry, but I woke up from a nap where I had been dreaming about cereal ha ha.. CRAZY DREAMS. 7 MORE DAYS until I can have mushie foods ha ha.. I can make it..

well good luck to everyone..WE have a second chance at a new great life.. we have been so blessed :w00t:
