Hi everyone!

I just wanted to check in and say hello. I am on day 3 of the preop diet. Hungry and Cranky, but looking forward to this Friday. I am around 37 BMI (I have lost a little on the preop so maybe 36 but...)

I am so tired of everyone at work telling me I am being extreme, I just want to say, do you tell someone who buys a pop up camper, or a nicer car than they really need, or botox, or expensive clothes that they are extreme (money wise I mean)

I am so done with food cravings controlling me and eating more than I should because it feels good for a couple of minutes. I want to be a healthy weight again and eat when I am hungry and only enough to make me full!

Good luck to those upcoming this week, and I wish lots of restful thoughts to those recovering.

Hi everyone!!! Im got banded on Friday October 10th in Cancun Mexico. So i guess im on day 5 post-op and i feel like someone died. I can't belive what a food addict i was before i got banded!!!! Im literally mourning my old food habits. Im like borderline depressed just thinking about 'my last supper' and the burger i had from Chillis the day before i left. Ive been sucking on gatorade, chicken broth, Water and teeny weeny bits of Jello and im soooooooo sad. Believe or not, i actually gained 1 1/2 pounds 2 days after surgery, but now im showing a 1 pound loss (day 5). Im thinking this is because i started weighing 200 lbs, so my weight loss might be slower. Im having tons of gass pain...and my port site is killing me. It hurts to laugh and cry. So now i just have this shocked look on my face all day. This better be worth it everyone .....:)

By the way, im reading very mixed mesages about when to start 'full liquids' and how long i should be doing that. I would cut off my little finger right now for some milk or cream of mushroom Soup. Can anyone help?

Oh and good luck to everyone that is still getting banded!! I'll pray that God keeps you all.

i'm so nervous about this surgery i keep saying i'm on the post op diet.

i'm on the pre op diet!!!! 8 more days to go after today. i talked to the dietician and she said i could have some onion Soup without the onions. i love it. she said i could use flavorings like vanilla to add to my vanilla Protein Shakes. i also use maple and root beer. the root beer tastes like the ice cream in a root beer float. i put ice and splenda in the blender with the shake. makes a large shake.

Dont be nervous, trust me its a bigger deal in your head then it actually is. You will feel pain and discomfort, but nothing that pain meds can't take care of easily. And you heal really quickly, i feel better and better each day. The only thing that bugs me now is the gas pain, and thats gone down too. So relax..my lap band surgery was actually the first surgery ive ever had in my life, so trust me i was nervous too. But i went to a doctor who has performed over 4000 of these in Cancun, MX so i knew i was in good hands, and they took care of me wonderfully. Hospital staff make all the difference and who you bring with you too.

Hi, MonkeyBand. We are in a similar situation and I was banded on 10/7. We started off about the same weight and I, too, am having a lot of port pain, I wore a bra for several hours today and couldn't wait to get it off. I went to full liquids late yesterday. I am continuing my Protein Drinks but adding pureed Soup and pudding and yogurt. I also only lost 2 pounds so far and now that the cals have gone up with full liquids am afraid I will gain. My nutritionist says 1 week of Clear Liquids, 2 week of full liquids, then 2 weeks of soft, fork tender food then whatever feels good. There are many other plans listed on the board, so if your doc gave you no specifics, pick one that seems reasonable and doable. Good luck.

Mimi

Yikes, I'm having my surgery NEXT WEEK, and I am kinda freaking out. Anyone else feel this nervous about the surgery? It's taken me 5 months to get to this point, and I wish I did not feel like running away>>I know in my heart this is the right thing to do. so why am I so whacked out? Any tips for the countdown? I've already lost over 40 pounds and can't wait till more is going bye bye! Liquid Protein pre-op diet is working ok so far, but some of the stuff tastes chalky, any good brands that actually taste good out there?

It would be great to hear from you...

Thanks Mimilou! That helps i think i will follow your plan. My 1 week will be up this Friday and will be counting minutes. I really really hope this lap band thing works for people that don;t have much to lose. I need to lose about 70 pounds! I think the thing im finding the most difficult right now is my emotions...im going through a myriad of feelings, about wether i did the right thing or i just made a really expensive and painful mistake. This forum helps a lot, seeing that lots of other people are in the same boat. Although i was reading a thread about lapband failure and that scared the sh*t out of me. PLease keep me updated on your progress and i will do the same.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
