Tube during surgery??

Okay I guess i am really getting nervous now since Tuesday is my day. But can anyone tell me about "the tube"..............I don't know what to expect and I am getting scared.....I here some say that their throat is sore after the surgery..etc. So I just want to know the experiences from others. Will I be awake or under when they put it in?? What can I do to minimize the pain after the surgery? Someone please advise i am really scared right now and I need to know more to be at ease.............Thanks!
