what are mons?

Recommended Posts

LOL Thanks for asking! I read the post regarding them and had no idea what they were talking about! I kinda got the idea it could be the folds of skin way down there but i didn't understand how they would gain weight and need plastic surgery. I was to embarrassed to ask!! I hope some one explains.

In human anatomy or in mammals in general, the mons pubis (Latin, pubic mound), also known as the mons veneris (Latin, mound of Venus) or simply the mons, is the soft mound of flesh present in women just above the genitals, raised above the surrounding area due to a pad of fat lying just beneath it which protects the pubic bone. It is anterior to the symphysis pubis.

The size of the mons pubis varies with the general level of body fat. After puberty it is normally covered with pubic hair.

In humans, the mons pubis divides into the labia majora (literally "larger lips") on either side of the furrow, known as the cleft of venus, that surrounds the clitoris, vaginal opening, and other structures of the vulva. The fatty tissue of the mons veneris is sensitive to estrogen, causing a distinct mound to form with the onset of puberty. This pushes the forward portion of the labia majora out and away from the pubic bone, and parallel to the ground (when standing).

Or pretty much what is behind the front part of a small bikini. Hope this helps. I know if I end up having a lower body lift after weight loss, I am gonna want them to help me out in this area too.

CMT-

Good description.

In less genteel words, it's the hair covered triangle of your private area you see when standing, looking in the mirror.

And in my world when I pick up my droopy tummy skin.

Often when a woman loses a bunch of weight and needs a panniculectomy (cutting off the skin) and Tummy Tuck (tightening up the muscle wall), she may very need to have the excess skin of her mons removed because it got fatty while she got heavy and it loses tone gets loose as she drops weight.

So yeah, I'm signing up for a mons lift with all the other plastic surgery I'm going to get next year....

Yikes!! I hope you didn't get an "extra examination" during surgery!!!

No, mine didn't puff up. But, the size of those are controlled by blood, so while I would never have noticed personally (since I couldn't see my mons).. it could be from sitting a lot post-surgery or if you were given a blood thinner and your blood is really pooling or somethin..in the mons.. and voila.

Just a theory.

I don't know.. for me, if I pull my belly skin away (I do this sometimes, as I know I will get a TT one day), it completely tightens my stomach and below my stomach.. but the mons, are like a fat ball. They don't move when I pull my stomach taught.

I may end up getting a mons lift too one day, but all depends on cost, because it doesn't bother me.. stomach does because people see it, but the only people who see my mons don't care!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
