Does anyone know how many cups of food your stomach can hold after surgery?

I know that we are not supposed to eat more than 1 1/2 cups long term, but does anyone know how much our new stomachs can actually hold?

My surgeon told me only 1/2 cup right after surgery.

according to my paperwork right after surgery your stomach is the size of a egg.

That sounds about right. Though, I was thinking about this today. Is it one cup of unchewed food, or one cup after you have chewed your food? It makes a difference because then, the food is mushed.

Normally, I think the stomach holds 4 oz. But after it'll be 1/2-1

hi i am an x-ray tech and do alot of ugi and alot of other fluoro studies of the esophagus, stomach,sm and large bowel, and pre band a stomach can hold approx six cups at one time. i was banded on 9-13-2007 not much weightloss 10 months,10 fills and only 18lbs. my band is not restricting any solids kept a food journal, had a ugi and radiologist also agreed that the band was not restricting anything. i have an appt with my dr. aug 5 i hope to get to the bottom of this. by the way i have a 4cc band and it is filled to 4cc with no restriction.

My band is fickle. sometimes I can only eat about 1/3 cup. Others I can chow down on two cups with no problem. Not very often thought. I'd have to say on average I usually eat about 1 cup. It just depends. Everyday is a new journey. I just have to roll with the punches.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
