5 month plateau-Just needed to rant

Recommended Posts

Is there such a thing as a five month plateau?? I have 7.2cc in a 10 cc band and I have full restriction but no weight loss since March....:-( I just feel like crying.

I know I should be exercising every day but I work 2 jobs and I just don't always have the energy at 8 pm or 5 am in the morning to workout. I know theres always going for a walk over lunch but I just don't. I dont want to give up but I am just going through a hard time in my life and I thought the weight would be coming off more.

On top of everything I am a week late with my period, my husband lost his job last week, and I have been trying to get promoted at work so we can make more money :-(

Just having one of those poor me days

Its ok to rant, that is why we are all here.

Try to watch what you are eating and try to not to eat out of stress. Make sure you are loading up on Proteins, and get them in any way you can. Avoid carbs and sugars.

Try to walk in your house if you can, like go up and down the stairs 10 times, if you have stairs. At work, if you can, walk around for 5 minutes every hour. Just try to get in 1 hour a week of some kind of activity.

Doc says you have 7.2cc's but if food is going down too easily, ask them to check for a leak, you never know.

Hang in there, you might just be a super slow loser. My feeling is that as long as you aren't gaining, its a positive.

Sounds like you are going through a rough stretch. Late periods and lost jobs are enough to make the strongest person weak in the knees.

You said that you are at restriction but have not lost since March. What are you eating? Is there any possibility that since you are restricted that you might be eating too many slider foods or things that go down easy. I know when I get away from my solid Proteins fruits and veggies, I definitely stop losing.

*hug* hang in there girl. I know you're pain - i had 6 weeks of a solid plateau and they suck!

You say you have "full restriction" meaning you only eat approx how much per meal? how often are you eating? have you journalled your food? some times doing that for even a week can put things in perspective when we just don't realize.

Thanks everyone!!!

I have been trying to keep a food journal the last month. Today so far I have eaten:

1/2 toasted english muffin w/PB

1 cup coffee w/1/2 cup 2% milk (dont like skim in coffee not strong enough)

lunch at 11:45

Plain Turkey Burger no bun

2 tblspn ketchup, 1 tblspn mustard, onion, 1/2 Tomato, and pickle

I am hungry now so I might go buy a piece of cheese and some skim milk to hold me over till dinner. Oh and i have had about 40 ounces of Water so far today.

Of course not everyday is like this sometimes I slip and have thin crust pizza or a muffin but I feel that I am eating so much less than before I had the band. My dad thinks I am lying to myself about portion size but I have really tried to look at that as well which is why I got the last fill. I think I may need another tweaking so get me really restricted but we'll see.

I did get my period and lost the craving for sweets and the 3 pounds of Water weight I always seem to gain before :-).

Sounds like your food so far today is pretty good! And no one can be perfect everyday. I wish I could get my period and lose the craving for sweets! Usually at that time I could eat my way through a candy store!!

The only thing I can say is - careful of things like muffins. Those delicious little beggars can be very deceiving and you'd actually consume less calories eating a donut unfortunately.

I've noticed that there are a lot of "hidden" calories in things that you really wouldn't think there would be!

Good luck! Hang in there

Are you sure about your fill amount? There is no way you should be able to eat a half of an english muffin, thin sliced pizza or even a muffin if you are at 7.2cc's in a 10cc band. Part of me and my 6.2cc's in a 10cc band is jealous, but then not because I don't miss them and don't want to start up with them again.:)

What I've been told is that everyone's stomach size is different, so fill amounts can't be compared between people. That being said, if you're able to eat muffins and pizza, I don't think you're fully restricted. Maybe another fill?

I have 7cc's in what I am guessing is a 10cc band (actually no idea of the size because my doctors never really given me a straight answer on it - I have the MIDBand) and I haven't met a food that I cannot eat. pizza, bread, muffins, no problem. Everything goes down and goes down fine, I think everyone is different.

I know I am very restricted even though I can eat half an english muffin because I have a hard time with full Proteins especially chicken!! I PB at least once a week because I either eat to fast or dont chew enough. I forget I have the band which is what I am working on. I go through so many ups and downs that I am finally dealing with my food addictions. I have wanted to see someone but I just get sick of talking about it all the time. You know what I mean? Like yes I know I am addicted to feeding my emotions with food but at least I realize and I try and work on it everyday. Sometimes I wish I had gastric but then I realized why I didn't. So maybe I need to deal with my addictions first instead of doing more damage/surgery to my body.

Why is that I stand up for myself when somebody hurts my feelings but I can't stand up against my own self when I beat myself down or put something bad in my mouth?

Try journaling every day. Count every calorie. You will notice a difference because many times if you have to write it down you won't eat it. Just be careful because many times if you don't write it down you will eat more of it. Good Luck. I had a two month plateau and am just starting to loose again. It's been six months now and I am down 68.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
