Hey all! I have been super busy with school starting, just wanted to check in and say hi! I have been feeling good and having to remind myself to eat, I have not been hungry at all.

I do need to get my fanny moving, exercise has not been going as planned. I am so tired when I get home from school, I just can't get motivated to exercise. Okay, I need a good push! I know it. Writing it makes it seem like a cop out.

This board is so good for support. Hope you all have been well. I am off to school in the morning and then a 4.5 hr drive to my daughter's volleyball match for the weekend!

Hi, I was banded on Aug 26th. I am on the mushie phase at the moment. Its so hard making sandwiches for everyone and eating a tiny amount of slush myself, or making a big gorgeous dinner and everyone tucking in and sitting there myself with the baby food hahaha. Oh its hard but I'm doing ok.

I have been a bit disheartened as my weight has stayed exactly the same for the last 3 days so I have decided to not weight myself every day anymore. So I will weigh every Tuesday and record that weight.

I can't wait to get a few fills and actually not be hungry anymore.

I guess there are a few of you at the same stage as me, looking forward to reading all about your weight losses

I hear you...I didn't lose for a few days and in fact I put on 200 grams and 400 grams then didn't lose for 2 days then I thought right when I go to bed I am going to think I WILL LOSE WEIGHT TONIGHT!! First night I lost 200grams and the second night 600grams. Maybe it works!

Hi, I was banded on Aug. 27th. I didn't get a fill in my band at surgery either. I went back to doc at 2.5 weeks and had lost 15lb. It's been almost 2 weeks and it looks like I have lost another 3 lbs but to me that's so disappointing. I don't get my first fill until Sept. 30. I am hoping it helps. The stinky thing is I am watching what I eat incredibly closely. I have not had anything that's not on my plan. I am not exercising like I know I need too. I feel frustration and disappointment. Let us know if you feel like that first fill is working.

Best of luck....ks

malteselover: I am in the same boat. Nothing put in the band at surgery, went back 1 month later lost 11 pounds (8 of it on liquid only 1st week). I got a 2cc put in 10cc band. I havent felt any restriction. I am only susposed to be eating 600-800 calories, but still to hungry, so am up to around 1100-1200 a day, sometimes more sometimes less. I have been lucky that i haven't put on any weight and have managed to loose like 4 pounds. It gets harder every day, cause my hunger comes back more and more. I go in on the oct 2nd for my next fill. I am hoping that this one gives me some restriction.

had my first fill yesterday...2 cc's. and so far...so good. but man can i feel everything i'm drinking going down. it's making me a little nervous to eat soft food today. i too haven't lost anything...in fact since my last doctor's appointment about three weeks or so ago...i had actually gained half a pound. so yikes! i really hope this helps some. i was getting tired of feeling hungry and feeling like i could eat anything i wanted.

we're on the road...there will just be some speed bumps and tolls along the way...but we'll all get to our destinations!! i know we will!!! :crying:

it was just hard for me to understand also, i haven't over eaten and stick to the plan they lay out for me. after all those liquids etc i figured i had to lose some, but NOOOO. that was a let down. the first fill didn't seem to effect me at all. still just as hungry, but still sticking to it. i hope my next fill will see some results. heck you would think after all of this i would have at least lost some. maybe i just expected to much.

has anyone had the fill then it take a few days to help out?

Hi everyone, I've been having an increasingly tough time with my appetite really ramping up over the past week and me hunting for for food like I haven't eaten all year. This is not a good time in my banding journey and especially when I was told to try a variety of foods to support the nurse in deciding how much fill I required, thank goodness I'm going for my first fill on Monday. I'm really hoping it helps reduce my appetite again because I had such a good feeling of restriction after the surgery. I do have to say though I am quite scared that it won't work and I am really afraid of the damage I could do to my 21 llbs to date weight loss if my appetitie continous to be this voracious!

I have noticed that my weightloss has ceased over the past 2 weeks ish but Im still losing inches for some reason??? :crying:

Fingers crossed for next weeks fill.

Ladies, they call this Bandster Hell. I was banded Aug. 4th. I have had 2 fills since then. I had my last fill 3 days ago. My band size is 10cc, I now have 6cc's in my band. I don't see much difference in the way I feel before I had my fill. I have been told it could take 3-6 fills before we get to the Happy Zone. Hang in there, drink your Water, count your calories, eat several small meals a day so that you won't overeat. I know what you are all going through. It will get better. :smile2:

yep...like the old saying goes, "you didn't put the weight on all at once, so you can't take it all off at once." it still sucks! :wink2: but at least we have each other to talk to!!!! :tongue2:

I'm TOTALLY hearing you all on the Bandster Hell....I have to wait until October 20 for my first fill....I figure at the moment rather than be sooooo hungry I make stupid choices I'll still have that third snack

So my day consists roughly of eating the following

2 vitabrits or baked Beans or scrambled eggs with mushrooms

yoghurt (snack)

lunch varies with some vegies and Protein and some carbs (about 1cup ish)

fruit (arvo snack)

dinner similar to lunch

Then if I am still really hungry I may eat something else either fruit or more vitabrits.

I am drinking 2+ Litres of Fluid per day.

I am pretty hungry but coping...

Heading into week 5 now and come next week should be able to eat normally...I think my future will not involve rice :tt1: I can eat it now JUST but it can be a bit troublesome. I had some Hand Rolls for lunch today I have missed them so much and I got through them ok but I made sure I took it VERY SLOWLY and even then there was some discomfort :bolt:

i'm still trying to get used to this fill...i'm set up at a craft show and had to have something for Breakfast (since it was such an early morning start) and my Cereal bar almost didn't go down. i think i'm going to stuggle today to just eat what i brought and make sure that is all goes down. but unofficially (since i only record my weight on wednesday's) i think i'm down another 5 pounds...so this is worth it...under 300 here i come!!! :bolt:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
