Banded July 1 - Doing Okay

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on 7/1. I feel pretty good. A bit tired and sore but otherwise okay. Trying to walk and drink as much as I can. The most difficulty I had was post - surgery gas, but the more I walked, it seemed to ease up. Still have occasional gas pains, but not as bad. Plan to return to work on 7/7 and feel like I should be okay.

I was banded on 07/01 as well. I am still having difficulty with the gas. I think I need to up the amount Iam walking every day. Is your stomach rumbling a lot too? Mine is making all kinds of rumbling sounds. All in all, I am feeling pretty good though. Really not too much pain at all which is nice! I am on my way now! Woohoo!

I was also banded 7/1. My stomach is definetly rumbling alot but another symptom thats shown up is like trunk contraction/spasms. I am and have been on all liquids since 2 days before surgery but I can't tell if this is what it s going to feel like if something gets stuck or is it something else entirely. Its like I can't get enough air. I have also have just 2 random breakdowns but I think that was the medicine(painkillers). Otherwise I feel like I have been pretty good as long as I drink and drink often/at least every 2 hours. I have been active the day of surgery I went and walked around Old navy. Each day I 've been walking for about 30 min along with going to some Store and walking around, not buying anything but it seems to work because it gets me up walking around. After this I am ususally pretty wiped out and sleep for a couple hours. Is this okay? Is this enough walking?

Okay so is anyone else gone through this? IS this normal?

PS I AM SO CRAVING A HAMBURGER and I ve been a vegitarian for 16 years!

I was banded on July 1 also. I am in Florida. It felt like a Mac truck hit me. I have been kind of air hungry also. Have had a lot of gas this morning because I tried coffee..not a good idea.

Banded yesterday, I am off the good stuff they gave me in the hospital. I don't feel great, but not horrible either.

Made a little walk, to the mailbox and back. Drinking is a chore, but I'm doing it. Going to follow the instructions exactly.

I'm from georgia as well. Cumming area. I am still in some discomfort and mostly wanting just something solid in my stomach. The protien drinks help alot though. Everytime I start feeling down or on the verge of a breakdown its usually because I am late a couple hours on my protien shake. I am walking a half hour a day still pretty tired. I am still on loritab but going longer with out it. It kind of helps curve the soreness and discomfort. Are the gas pains like your innards are contracting or spasming? and do they leave you short of breath. I notice I am mostly shallow breathing. I haven't weitghed myself for a few days but on surgery day was down 7 lbs from the 2 week pre-op diet. I am not really feeling like its fair to count or judge my weight loss right now because anyone can lose weight on a liquid diet. I am more focused on healing and increasing activity.

Hi Jonesie, my gas pains sometimes feel like something is sitting on mychest and I have some shortness of breath. Some people get them in their shoulders mine is in my chest and back. It feels like I constantly have to burp but it just does not want to come out. Hope this helps.

I too was banded on July 1! I actually shared a room with WSW27 (Wendy). Thanks to all July 1 banders for checking in. SOunds like everyone is on the mend.

I am doing much better than I ever had imagined. I warned my family of all the possibilities. To date, I haven't taken any pain meds, not even aspirin and am feeling good. Water and walking has done wonders!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
