I'm getting banded on the Aug 25. I'm really nervous. I don't know anyone who's been banded and my doctor told me to go on a liquid diet for 2 weeks but wasn't specific. Do I take vitamins, protein shakes? Anyone have info to help me out?

I'm getting banded on the 25th. What are you planning for your liquid diet? Mine is for 2 weeks, how long is yours? I'm afraid I won't be able to go without eating.

Here I am the night before surgery! I go in tomorow at 730 and have surgery at 9:30...I can hardly wait. The nerves are gone and I'm ready to Rock and Roll! I can't wait to come home and post how easy it was to ease everyones mind!

May the Band with with you!!!

:)

Surgery4me - Good luck on your surgery tomorrow!

My surgery is on Monday and I'm getting a little nervous. :)

I'm going in today (Aug 6th) at 7 am (surgery at 0830). Right now it's 2413. I'm tired but I can't sleep. I think I'm not going to get any rest tonight but it doesn't matter since they are going to be putting me under anyway.

Thanks so much Bonnie(AKA Vegas Girl:biggrin:)! Your such a sweetie!!

Eazes I'm sending you happy thoughts! Good luck tomorrow! I'm sure i'm going to be up most of the night with you.

azlife, i had to go up 2 flights of stairs to get to where i live, and it took a while to get up them, but 2 days later when i had to go down them again it was fine, just took my time. hope this helps.

it was more the energy required not the pain that made me take my time

Hi, I am having my surgery this Friday. A little nervous. My doctor did not give me a diet plan before sugery but asked me to have fluids only from today. He said that although i am overweight (BMI 31), my Liver should not have stretched too much, and therefore there is no more preparation needed pre op. I do wish every one "good Luck" and i think it is great that we all encourage each other and share our immediate post op period. Take care everyone

Hey how ya doing

im getting banded on the 7th August and begin Optifast for 1 month next Tuesday It would be good to share our stories I have a blog

beenabeena.blogspot.com

It will be great to hear from you

Cheers

I am being banded this morning. I have been on all liquids (Optifast, etc.) for two weeks, and will continue to be on fluids for about 4 more weeks after surgery. It isn't easy, but it is do-able. My doctor told me that I had to be on fluids before before surgery to shrink my fatty liver in order for him to get behind the liver for the lap band surgery. I'll do whatever it takes!

God august all stars are realy flying now.

thought id share my story. I had the band in on friday, everything went well, wasnt nervous after speaking to the doc onthe thurs. when they woke me up in recovery i couldnt breath - so got a bit of a fright, they said it was the gas. Slept on and of that day. I was very sore, and i wasnt ready to feel that bad. on sat i had a yogurt and some water, both stayed down, so was went home. Got back to hotel and slept on and off that day as well, again the gas was the worst - felt my chest and stomack where expanded - this hurt and my port site was bad. Sunday had consipation - sore, still had gas but feeling more mobile. I Went home sunday evening, was sooo happy to be home which i think helps u get ur head together better. Im back in work today, no sick pay and no hols left to take. Im feeling very normal today. Sorry for my not so nice story but on the other hand im fine now and even when i felt crap i didnt regret getting it done. and some of the people i was in with where fine. Its just pot luck realy, but if ur feeling bad after it just remember it gets better.
