Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Need Help Reaching Goal.
You have made a wonderful decision to get banded. It's the only thing that has helped me to lose weight of all the things I've tried in the past. Good luck and I'll be thinking about you on your surgery date.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor spayneuter2008
I was lapbanded about 6 months ago, Sept. 30, 2008. I have lost a total of 40 pounds and have 20 to go. But I'm in trouble. I have been eating like crazy. Has anyone tried Super Hoodia90? (I think that's what it's called.) I'm thinking I may need that to help me decrease my appetite. I will be going in for another fill next Thursday, but now I'm eating a lot of soft foods to fill me up, probably an emotional hunger. I have joined a local athletic club but am not starting with a trainer until Monday. HELP!!!!!!

A Better Me
Your picture is beautiful. You look so happy. I am down 33 pounds. Surgery was Sept. 30th, this year. I just had my third fill. They are taking it slowly with me. I still don't feel the restriction others describe, but am sticking to 1000 cals a day, below 20 fat grams and drinking lots and lots of Crystalite. The only starch I eat is one serving of cream of wheat at night. You mentioned a Protein bar -- which one? Also, what kind of exercise regimen are you on? I haven't started mine yet. I HATE to exercise but know I have to begin. My clothes size is going down very slowly. If you have time, could you tell me what you eat in a day? Thanks, you are so nice and helpful. Joanies not so unique weight-loss story
Hi Joanie, I really loved reading your story. I too am 5 feet tall. I've been wishing that there would be more positive, hopeful and helpful stories, and then found out that this thread had been started. I'm going to save all the stories to help me. My surgery was scheduled for Aug. 12 but cancelled the evening prior because there was some question about slow motility of my esophagus. But I have had that checked and it is normal, so I'm hoping that my surgery will be rescheduled within a week or two. I just wanted to let you know how much I liked hearing about your life. And I'm so happy to know you. Betty Dilley Germantown, TN

Feelin' Good and Lookin' Fine!
Thank you for sharing your story. I should be getting my surgery date on Tuesday (Sept. 16) and hope it will be within a week or so. I have been hoping to find more positive stories. I read a lot of whining and negativism and I can do without that. I will save your story to read over and over.

manometry -- could it preclude band surgery?
I'm a little confused by all this. What does becoming a friend mean? Does it mean we exchange email addresses? If so, mine is betty_dilley@comcast.net.

manometry -- could it preclude band surgery?
Please keep me posted about your sister. My age may have something to do with the esophageal problem. I'm 63. I hope that your sister is able to get the lapband surgery that she wants. I hope I do too!

manometry -- could it preclude band surgery?
My Aug. 12th band surgery was cancelled because my upper GI test showed a hiatal hernia and a problem with my esophagus. For the latter, I will meet with a GI specialist tomorrow for a consultation to get a manometry. My band doctor said he could fix the hiatal hernia, but the two together made him want to do more testing before the surgery. My reflux is successfully treated with Nexium and has been for a long time. I have no symptoms. I am so afraid that I won't be able to have the LapBand surgery. Does anyone know anything about this?

I am very upset!
My surgery date is Tuesday, Aug. 12. I am nervous, which I know is normal. It seems like all I've been reading lately is disappointments, negative issues, etc. I would like to find a place where I can read up on the patients who have had their Lapbands and are expressing the positives. In other words, is the Band really the wonderful thing it is supposed to be? Please guide me to those types of good responses. Thanks.

hi august band buddies
This is very helpful info. I'll take it to my doctor's office. I'm already on Nexium. I DO get very nauseous from general anesthesia. I'll mention the patch. Thank you so very much. Betty, Germantown, TN
