Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Ok, I tried this once before and got way to eager. I started moving quicker than designed. This time I will follow the guidelines.

If you are not familiar with a Couch to 5K, it is a plan to go from not running at all to running 5k (3.2 miles) in only 2 months. It is very doable and such a great feeling of accomplishment. I ran/walked a 5k in May and it was one of the most rewarding things I have done in many years.

Here is the link to the info.. If anyone is interested in training together just join in.

Cool Running :: The Couch-to-5K Running Plan

We will start on Monday, June 29.

Let's get ready to MOVE!!!!!!:tt2:

Leslie... have a great time at the waterpark! Sounds fun!

Well I dragged myself downstairs and did my workout. I didn't want to, but kept thinking of all of you and that gave me the motivation to get moving! Thanks! I did my weight workout and then a walk/run of 30 min. I only ran for 10 min total, but at least I did the workout!

Its kind of funny... I ran for 5 min and then walked for awhile and realized that it just wasn't doing it for me. So I ran again. I used to walk at 3.3 mph for about 45 min and that was enough of a workout to get my heart rate moving. But now, I wasn't even feeling like I was even working out walking at 3.6 mph. That's progress!!

Hope everyone has a great long weekend!

I went to the doctor today. The bad news. My port has flipped. It is on its side, so after a difficult time she was able to access it. She removed .4cc to allow me to eat more. YEAH!! I had lost 4 pounds since the no scales challenge began. At first I thought that didn't seem great, but according to the machine I gained almost 5 pounds of muscle and lost almost 7 pounds of fat!! I'll take that. We are hoping that my port will behave until I have my tummy tuck. If she needs to replace it sooner, then I will probably go ahead and do the tummy tuck at that time. According to the doctor I have 18 pounds of fat to lose before I am at goal!! WOOHOO!! I want to lose more than that, but that's a start!!

Renewedhope - yeah for you. sorry about your "flippin" port!!!!!!

I went to my foot doctor!! And the winner is ....Bursitis. Doesn't that sould like something an old lady gets. It is a pressure point from running, beautiful; but non-practical shoes. The answer is a custom shoe insert.

I am back to running.

PS I dyed my hair RED!!!

Lyn... yeah... get those special inserts and off you go. Red hair eh? Feeling sexy lately... hmmm!!!

Ok, I didn't last on the scale challenge! I decided to weigh myself today because I'm going out of town tomorrow and will be likely overindulging and I wanted my best weight for this. Drumroll.^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I lost 4.5 lbs, but my scale also measures body fat and lean muscle mass... so I lost 7.5 lbs of body fat and gained 3 lbs of muscle!!! So I'm very pleased. I also started this challenge with taking my measurements, and so I did that again. I lost a total of 6.5 inches overall... losing between .5 - 1.0 inch in all places. I even lost 0.5" off my calf!!!! I really am glad that I did this. I feel much better about my success and know the running has helped. I think I'm going to keep it to a 2-week cycle though. One month is too long and one week is too short.

WAY TO GO KATHY!!!!

OK, I am back! LOL Tommorow, in regular Amy is crazy fashion, I am going to run/walk the Nike Human Race 10K. I plan to run 5K and then walk/run the other 5K. I just decided this today. So, Whosya, what do I eat in the morning to help sustain me through this??? Give me some tips here.

Way to go Renewed!!! Your are going to do great. I know my DH always ate protein and carbs beforehand. He'd eat some yogurt and a bagel ahead of time. Then drink water throughout. Good luck, and make sure your get a finish line picture!

Ok, the man who used ot be my trainer at the gym asked me to run it with him. I told him that there was no way I could run 10K, but I would come run 5k just for the practice. I didn' think anything else about it until today I saw some info on it at Academy. I went online and read about it and I can't officially run it because I am not close to one of the locations and I don't have a Nike plus sportband (I am getting one for my birthday next month  ) However I am going to go do my 10K tommorow anyway. I probably won't have a picture pecause DH will be home with the kids. I am doing it for the satifaction of doing something that was impossible a year ago, and it will be cool to run at the same time as millions of other people. We are starting at 6a tommorow.

WTG on the weight loss guys!!!

Renewed~ Sorry about the flipped port. Hope it's okay until your tummy tuck, which is getting close!! You're going to be at goal in no time!! Good luck with the 10K! That's sooooo exciting!!

Congratulations and good luck Renewed! Once again you blaze the trail of "If you set your mind to it; you can do it" Keep setting the bar high for us.

Lynn up date:

My bursitis and I bought the shoe inserts today and a Wii. Can't find the Wii Fit yet.

I will be running tomorow morning outside. Shooting for 20 minutes straight. I haven't run for one and half weeks (foot pain).

I get my first fill on Tuesday and not a day too soon; I have no restriction and could eat the knobs off of the cupboards!!!!! I ate more tonight than I have ever eaten since my surgery 6 weeks ago.

Lyn, I hope the inserts help.

Be patient, as your first fill may not get you where you want to be, but you will be amazed at how things take off once you have good restriction. You are going to be kickin butt!!!!

However I am going to go do my 10K tommorow anyway. I probably won't have a picture pecause DH will be home with the kids. not sure if anyone is from around the houston/ clear lake area but there is a 5K run on Sept. 14th at clear lake high school

Hi all,

I haven't been able to run for the past 2 days due to evacuations in the New Orleans area. I live south of New Orleans and my family and I have evacuated for the moment. All is well so far. Just hard to sit and wait for the impending storm and what will be the aftermath. I tried to jog around the neiborhood of where we are staying but it's definately not the same as a treadmill. I will do what I can and just pick up where I left off when I can. I'll keep ya'll posted.
