  1. It has been 2 years since I had my lap-band® and I originally lost 50 lbs the first 6 months. I stayed at that weight until about a year and have gradually gained it all back. I am back where I started. It's so frustrating. I know, I know, I know....it's what I eat. I eat the wrong stuff and it has come back on. I feel miserable. Any kind of suggestions on how to motivate myself to get back on track?

Looks like the only logical thing to do is start from square one. As hard as it is to admit, I have regressed back to where I started. It's going to take a few days to do this since I have to supply my pantry with the low carb, high protein foods that I should be eating. I have gotten lazy and have slipped back to eating whatever and whenever I feel like it. I know better not to eat the fried foods and sweets but when I eat small portions of these things they slip by the lapband just fine. It's been hard this lenten season giving up the chocolate but I haven't cheated one bit. Once I make up my mind to do something I usually am able to accomplish whatever it is. I have now made up my mind. I will begin on Sunday. This gives me up until Saturday to resupply my house with all the right foods and to announce to my family that we are back to basics. Wish me luck!

  4. I really feel like I have restriction still. I guess starting over would be the logical place to begin again. I'm almost embarassed to go back to the doctor's office because the weight is back where I started. I'll try with starting at the beginning and see if that helps at all.

Glad to hear most of you are doing well with the running. Renewed you will be back in the game soon. Taking it easy is sometimes harder to do when you are so active. But you will have the rest of your life to run if you heal well. I have been keeping up with my running 3-4 times a week and I feel great after every workout. This has been absolutely amazing journey.

Hello all, Good Luck on your run next Saturday Georgia. You must be pretty excited. You're gonna do great! I've been keeping up with the running at least 3x's a week. I'm running for 30 minutes which ends up being about 2.5 miles. I'm slowly adding the speed. I would like to run the whole 3 miles in 30 minutes. I don't find myself winded at all after the run. I do kinda get pooped out though. My legs are heavy and just tired. I try to eat a banana before my run but I can't eat a meal and then run. It upsets my stomach. Welcome NFaith, you're right this is a great thread. Lots of tips and encouragement.

Renewed-wow, I'm catching up on a few days worth and saw your before and after pics. You look AMAZING! Hope you're recovery is going well. thatDEgirl-great job! It's so intimidating the first time you have to do a long run but as you can now see after you're going for awhile it gets easier to run longer. Keep it goin' I've been running a little longer each week. I ran the entire 5K for the first time this week. Even during my 1st 5K run, I had to stop and walk for a few minutes. This time I ran the entire time. Now that I have the distance that I want it's time to increase the speed a little. I have to keep challenging myself. Lyn- I have to agree with the others, something GREAT must be waiting for you. Sugar-glad to hear you're running again. One step at a time. Have a great weekend all!!!!

Congrats on the job Kathy! Aclubb you did it!! I know exactly how you feel. I too was so overwhelmed with completing the race that I cried because I was so proud of myself. I didn't have anyone at the finish line either. My brother came to see me but I finished quicker than I anticipated and he missed me by 1 minute. I'm proud of you. So sad to hear Lyn that you weren't able to compete. Your granddaughter is a smart girl. They'll definately be a next time. Renewed hope you took that date night. It may be awhile since you're going to be laid up for awhile. Hope all goes well with the surgery Fri. Go....Georgia!!! Your race is coming up and it looks like you're well prepared. Keep Stompin' Fanny, sounds like you have a plan.

I ran after step class night and this morning my achilles tendon is hurting. I don't think I over did it. Has anyone else had this problem? The funny thing about it is that the more that I walk on it, the better it feels???? Weird....I'm gonna take it easy and rest the ankle the rest of the week though. Georgia, you should rest too if you're not feeling well. Kathy-you had me craking up because I have the same problem. When I eat pizza, pasta or bread it seems to get stuck after a bite or two but chocolate seems to go down just fine. lol Renewed-it's good to hear it's not MRSA and that he is feeling a little better. Hope he heals up quickly b/c it must be uncomfortable for him Glad to read all the posts. Thanks guys!

Kathy, it sounds like you may have a running buddy. There's nothing like someone standing along side you pushing and encouraging you to go farther. Good luck to both of you.

Hey everybody, the race was awesome!! My time was 36:48, personal best for me! When I saw the finish line I started to tear up and cry because I was so proud of myself. It was extremely hard though. It was the first time that I ran the outside in the heat for 5k straight. I've ran outside before only a couple of times but it was early on with my training. I definately under estimated the amount of energy it would take to do this and it surely drained me toward the end. I was only able to get in 1/2 of a scrambled egg and a cup of OJ down before the race. So needless to say I was pretty pooped out toward the end. Here are a few pics that were taken after the race. My only comment to this is that I need to realize that I no longer need to get the 2XL shirts. I couldn't attach the pics for some reason but if you look at my profile you will see them. Thanks all of you for the encouragement. Great job Luluc for your run. You're awesome!!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I did a trial run yesterday. I wanted to just see what I could do for the upcoming race tomorrow. I ran for 30 minutes which was 2 miles for me and then walked for a minute and a half then ran the last mile. So I completed the 5K!!! First time for me. It took me 45 minutes to complete. This was on the treadmill and by myself though. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. I have no doubt that I will finish, I would just like to finish under 45 minutes. Mamato, sorry you're having a rough time at home right now. I agree you need some down time for yourself. Even if it is to just regroup and take a deep breath. Will say a prayer for you and your family. Luluc-tomorrow's our day. Good Luck and have a great time! Gerogia-keep up the great work!! Renewed-good looking family

Kathy what a great link. I registered online and was able to map out a route in my neighborhood. Now I know exactly how far I'm going before I leave out the house. I did my first 25 minute run yesterday. What an awesome feeling. I wanted to quit at least twice but I kept telling myself that the girls on-line have all done it and they survived so I probably can do it too. I must admit that music is everything. I found myself dragging my pace when I had a slow balad song on. I need to organize my music to all up beat songs when I'm into the run.

It's so good to look at the thread and see the progress all of you are making. What an inspiration. I am on week 6 day 2. There is a 5K run in our nieghborhood next weekend. I'm not totally ready to run the entire thing but I think I might attempt to do the best that I can and walk some of it.

Just finished week 5 day 1. What a great feeling to complete. Looking toward the rest of this week although it looks like an uphill battle from here adding more time to each interval. I like to catch up on all the entries from all of you and get re-motivated. I remind myself of the goal that I set for myself because those of you that are just like me are achieving. Great job everyone!!

Hello everyone, It's been about a week since I've been able to login. Just getting back to normal since hurricane Gustav, and finally got cable reconnected today to use the internet. All is well. I couldn't remember my c25k cycle of how long I ran and walked so I went back to week 4. I ran outside and it was quite pleasant. I don't think I was running as fast as I would have been on the treadmill but the distance was definately there. Last week I sort or got off of the low carb diet but tomorrow is a new day and I'm gonna start again without beating myself up too bad.

Hi all, I haven't been able to run for the past 2 days due to evacuations in the New Orleans area. I live south of New Orleans and my family and I have evacuated for the moment. All is well so far. Just hard to sit and wait for the impending storm and what will be the aftermath. I tried to jog around the neiborhood of where we are staying but it's definately not the same as a treadmill. I will do what I can and just pick up where I left off when I can. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Whewww....Week 4/day 1 is over. It was a challenge though. When I got to the gym all of the treadmills were taken exept for the one that faces the open window. I should have brought my sunglasses. I usually watch TV when I run to keep my mind occupied but I couldn't do it today so I really didn't think I would be able to do the run but I did. I truely believe it is a mind thing. Just staring at the little worksheet with the times is so intimidating. I have a running buddy at work and we do the work-out during lunch. I plugged in my earbuds and listened to the TV and watched the birds fly around in the trees. Wasn't so bad. Leslie, sorry you had a not so good morning. Tomorrow is another day. Hang in there. You can do it!!

LITE...I love it. My goal was to be able to jog a mile without stopping. Looks like it will eventually be possible if I stick with this. Week 4 starts Monday. Can't wait. Good luck to all this week. Whosya congrats on the triathalon. Mamato your family is in my prayers. Georgia, great idea with working at the fitness center. What better way to stay in shape than surround yourself with people who are seeking the same thing. Hope everyone has a great week.
