I used Ullreys. The music as horrid! :cursing:

Just uploaded my first Nike+ workout with my new Nike+! I have to go see how badly I did on the challenges given that only half of my Feb. runs were counted.

DE, im sorry, but i'd really follow doc's advice on this. I also think your idea of walking is great though, may help you keep in the game a bit. but dont push it - you dont want to do any serious damage that might keep you out of it for a much longer period of time... (dr. Carol's advice, of course...lol)

Oh no, no worries...I am actually extending his guidelines. He says I can run after 7 days but I am leaning towards not running for 14.

Thanks all, for the comments...I am ready for it to be over. I have my *farewell* run today, so I plan to savor it...LOL!

I have a question for you guys. I'm on Week5 Day3 tonight. So far I've done all my runs on the treadmill, but it's finally warming up and I was debating about going to a track tonight.

It's my first 20 minute straight run and I'm wondering how much the change will affect my ability to make it the full 20 mins.

Should I stick with the treadmill until I complete the program and then go to the ground or try it on the track tonight?

Suzanne~ I would go ahead and head outside. It may be a little different for you, but it should be doable. I love running outside, the change of scenery is so nice!

I started outside and then moved to the treadmill on days that it was just too cold, snowy or windy to run outside. So I did mix it up between the two over the winter and found that the treadmill is definitely easier for me, but I love running outside and hate the days when I have to stay in!

Suzanne... probably too late to answer, but I would encourage you to run outside. I love it. I find it much easier to run outside due to the lack of boredom, and you can control your own speed easier. BTW... how'd it go???

MacMadam is back in the challenges!!! Welcome back to Nike+

Whosya... Yeah for you!!!! That's going to be an amazing challenge. Good for you!

Ok, I still haven't run since getting sick, but am feeling back to normal now! Yeah. I just got home from my trip to Ottawa today... flights were good! So I think I'll go for a short run just to get back in the swing of things. Longer run for tomorrow.

I ran last night and it did feel good! Not too far, but enough to remind me what running feels like! LOL.

Ok, advice time... does anyone have difficulty swallowing pills? If so... any advice on how I'm supposed to get my medication down? I always have difficulty... its that gag reflex of mine. I typically avoid it as much as possible and only take meds if I have a bad Migraine or the like. Now I'm supposed to take 2 horse pills 3x a day for 10 days... still have 7 days left. To make things worse, as the medication hits my pouch and then into my stomach it makes me feel nausiouse. Lasts for about an hour! Anyone else experience this and what did you do?

This is what works for me:

Use as *little* Water as possible. Too much water will make the pill slosh around, but not go down.

As the bill gets near your throat, tip your head up. Gravity then forces the pill down just as instinct would have you do something that makes it come up.

scalingdown... that's exactly what I just did! I couldn't handle 7 more days of this, so called the pharmacy and they have a kids liquid. Way better than the pills, but it did cause me to "slim" a lot after taking it. But at least it passed.

OK majormark for me. I just got passed the 200 gone!

YEs that 200 pounds gone since aug 07.

I had a wicked plateau for a while and i found eating tons fo fruit helped. Weird that i had fruit so much im starting to crave it instead of processed food and candy now! I cant believe that.

I am actually 237 now.

O another MAJOR thing.

New workout. I set my self to run for 60mins and every 10 mins or every 1 mile i do 12-15 pushups. It totally confuses my muscles and i get a total upper and lower and body workout. I jump straight back on the treadmill. at the end i do 2 set of sit ups and or 2 sets of pull ups. It making me lose weight fast.

Try it if your stuck ESPICALLY WOMEN!! You wont bulk up. Youll lose weight faster. Its ok to do women push ups where you keep your knees on the ground.

Whosya...:) Congratulations!!! What a major milestone! And since you're talking accomplishments, I noticed another one today... the gap was huge last night, but almost disappeared now.

"Hotties" if we are going to win... we have to pour it on, otherwise Whosya is going to take the lead anytime now... and I've noticed you tend to hold back a bit and then sprint to a win in the end!!

Kathy - I ended up not getting home early enough to run outside so I did the treadmill. I did it though, I ran my 20 mins and start Week6 Day1 tonight. Woot!

Whosya - Congrats on the weightloss. Where do you find the time for all this exercise? I'm in awe.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
