I got your challenge and clicked on the link, but it is not showing up under challenges on my nikeplus. I don't know what the deal is. If it doesn't show up tommorow I will see if I can send you a challenge. Don't worry, I have only run once since my surgery and it was only 2.5 miles. I won't be doing any super long runs inititally anyway. I just REALLY need to get motivated to get going again.

I sent you another invite via your email address.

Did my own min Triathlon this morning

30laps swim

45 min spin class

5k run on the treadmill.

I am thinking about doing this most Sat mornings and gradually increasing my distance so ill be ready for that Half Iron Man soon :rolleyes2:

Kristen... great job. I bet it felt amazing when you crested the hill.

Whosya... wow, what a workout!

Renewed... It's tomorrow... have you run yet? If not... get that butt in gear and start running!

My knee is fine. I ran last night for 20 min at 4.8mph and was fine. Yeah!!!!

Ok, now I have to get serious. DH and I have decided to do the Resolution Run on New Years Eve - assuming we can get a sitter for a few hours. So that's just 2-1/2 weeks away, and I haven't run more than 2 miles in quite awhile! Plus, I haven't ever run outside in the snow! Wish me luck!

OK Kathy, I am with you!! Today was my aha morning. I woke up and thought, "What the @*^# are you doing." Enough is enough. So, not tomorrow, not next week, not after christmas, I am refocused today. Right now!!! I just did a 5K run. My time was 35 minutes. It felt so good to run. No more crap food for me. I (we) have worked to hard to quite just short of the finish line. How crazy would it have been when we ran our 5K's if we had stopped just shy of finishing because we were tired. I don't think so. Well, we can't do it here either.

JOIN ME LADIES!!! IT"S TIME TO PUT ON OUR BIG GIRL PANTIES AND GET IT DONE!!!!!

Renewed... Good for you! 5k in 35 min, after not really running for several weeks! You're my hero!

I tried to run last night, but it was too soon after dinner... and well, lets just say it was not pleasent! So tonight I'm waiting longer and I'm going to go for 5k, even if I have to walk for some of it. I know its going to take long because I have a headache and I'm tired.... no excuses though!

It is a lovely 2 degrees out. I hate running on the treadmill, but I will do it! It is supposed to be cold like this for the next week.

Any suggestions for treadmill running. I feel like I de-condition when I use it. Yesterday I did more of an incline to make it more challenging.

I ran on the treadmill today too. I hate it. It seems like it takes twice as long to complete my run. As for deconditioning, I haven't found that to be an issue for me. Just make sure that you push yourself each time. It is easy to get complaicant on the treadmill. Don't get me wrong. I started this whole thing with the treadmill and wouldn't have been as successful without it, but once I got brave enough to carry my runs outdoors I have had a love/hate relationship with my treadmill.

Renewed~I agree, it seems to take forever to complete my run on the treadmill. I also know I do push harder outside, have to make it back to the house! That is why I used the incline, to try and get a better workout.

I need to get off the computer and on the treadmill!

I'm with ya'll!! I haven't been running and tomorrow I will just flippin' do it!! I have been doing with eating though. I'm still doing low carb, but giving myself one "treat" per week. My "treat" day was Saturday and to my surprise, it wasn't hard for me to get back in the grove at all. I will weigh again on Friday, but last time I checked, I was one pound above my ticker weight. I've lost 9 of the 10 pounds I gained!!

I've been soooo busy. I had some sort of event EVERYDAY last week and this week is pretty much the same...busy, busy, busy. Anyway, I'm going to try my hardest to run tomorrow!!

Thanks for the pep talk ya'll!

Glad low carb is going well for you Georgia!! You know, I don't think it matters which "plan" we choose, jsut as long as we do something. I have spent too long doing nothing!! I know we can do this. After all, we've done it before!!

HELLO everyone,

I got my treadmill kill switch today. Tomorrow is the big day back on the machine to melt this butt down alittle.

How did I let myself get out of the habit of exercising? I am so bummed about it.

I was down to 164 and now I have gained 3 pounds. Can you say: Ice cream!!!!!! I throw a 1/2 gallon out! It was just too tempting. (It was brought to my house for my granddaughter's birthday!! They left 2- 1/2 gallons! I ate way to much of the first one. I just haven't had good eating habits and no exercise.

I agree with everyone that outside running is a lot faster and more fun; but... it is darn cold and pretty icy in Ohio.

Kathy keep the prayers going; I am still in the lead for that job I told you about. I won't find out for sure until mid Jan.!!

I will check in with everyone and let you know how the run went.

I need to check in here to stay accountable.

Nice job Renewedhope - 5 K in 35 min. My goal!!

Night night.

Lyn... prayers being sent! Good luck friend, you deserve it!

Kristen... I hear you on the treadmill thing... I started my C25k program on the treadmill and was fine, until I got to week 5 and the 20 min run. Then I just hit this wall. To this day I still struggle with running longer than 20 min on the treadmill. It is so boring, and seems so much longer. Plus with the time staring me in the face I get so discouraged so easily. But in this cold, its hard to run outside. I'm also afraid of slipping on the ice.

On Sunday we all went to the park (DH, kids and dog). It was misting a bit, but fairly warm and all the ice and snow was off the road in the park. DH and I kept watching the runners pass by and we were so jealouse! But it was too late to go get our shoes and trade off the kids. It would have been perfect for running outside. Hopefully we'll get another day like that soon. Still no sitter for the kids on New Years Eve, so not sure if we'll be running in the 5k... if not, maybe we can challenge each other to a treadmill 5k at home!

I ran 30 min tonight and pushed myself on the speed. It felt really good... and I watched the Biggest Loser while running... talk about motivation!

I am so thrilled that Michelle won the Biggest Loser. You go girl!!!!

I wanted Amy to win the At-Home-Challenge not Heba.

I can't believe a new season begins in January.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
