I'm starting back my running tomorrow. No maybe's, no excuses...I'm ready. I'm really looking forward to it. For weeks I've been dreading it - tells me it is time! I'm going to take it slow and take it outside. 6:00 here I come - I wish I could get there earlier than 5:45-6:00. I'm glad I have some ambition left :-)...got to be ready for November!

Oh - thanks Georgia! You're lookin' pretty hot yourself girl. Must be the Georgia sunshine, nah it's us and hard work - LOL

I'm LOVING this weather...hope it sticks around!

Leslie - what a nice compliment.

Georgia - 20 minute run is just days away.

My hips are crying and I have to go back to work out in the AM. I am hoping the my hips hurt because they are shrinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called my doctor to request to have my fill date moved up. I have not lost one pound or one inch since my last fill Sept. 2. I have 6.5 cc in my band, but no real restriction. My new appointment is next thursday.

I feel like my legs have been stuck 100 times.

I went to the docs and had sclerotherapy (shots in the small varicose veins) I have to wear those crazy support hose during the day for 5 days. I guess when all this is done, my legs will look smokin' hot!!!

You girls have a great running day, I'll catch up to you later.

Leslie... Who cares if it was a shovinist comment... Yippie!!! Bring it on! Soon you'll be getting whistled at on the street! As for the morning... just do it, as the Nike commercial goes. Don't think about it, just do it!

Georgia... Yeah... keep on adding a minute to your time! You are doing great.

Lyn... yes, when your hips shrink, it hurts! LOL. Next time you run see if you notice how you swing your hips. You might be pushing them a bit and causing them pain?? Good luck. BTW, don't worry about the weight loss or lack of it, or the restriction. It takes awhile to get to your sweet spot on the band. And once you get there, you'll know. I was banded at the end of July (2007) and didn't get to the right fill level until mid Nov. Everyone is different, but keep working at it and you'll get there.

Sugar... Ouch!!! I'm cringing for you! Your legs are going to be smokin' hot when you're done with this! It'll be over soon!

I did my run this evening. Couldn't get motivated during the day to do it, so waited until DH got home. I just went out into the neighbourhood and ran... not sure how far I went, but ran for a total of 45 minutes. I remixed my playlist so that the last song was the Rocky song. I timed it based on how long it's taking me to do the 5k, so the Rocky song comes on at 39 min, that should mean when I run on Sun it will come on just before the finish line! I'm a bit achey tonight... in my shoulder??? Weird.

Does anyone have any experience with bees/wasps making a nest in the house? We think they've gotten into the house through the front just above the foundation and are nesting above the ceiling in the basement spare bedroom. Nasty! DH went out to spray some stuff, but can't see the hive. When my friend was here on the weekend she was stung on her toe when she was walking into the spare bedroom. I think I have to call in a specialist. I hate bees... they terrify me.

It's so good to look at the thread and see the progress all of you are making. What an inspiration. I am on week 6 day 2. There is a 5K run in our nieghborhood next weekend. I'm not totally ready to run the entire thing but I think I might attempt to do the best that I can and walk some of it.

Tootie... Congrats on the running. You have progressed so well. Go for the run, it will be such a great challenge and insiration. Good luck.

I went out this morning to get my DD some new shoes... she's growing so fast! While I was out, I tried on some running/fitness clothes. The ones that are knit, stretchy and fashionable! Well, I didn't expect them to fit, as they only go to an XL size... but they did, and I looked good! Oh that felt great. So the plan is to get this job and when the money starts to come in, I'm buying a cool looking jogging outfit!

Ok, on the wasp/bee front... we have an exterminator coming tomorrow to check things out. Hopefully it won't be too bad, but I'm really worried about it! These things terrify me. I was swarmed by them as a kid and ended up in the hospital... don't ever want that again!

Thanks for the link Kathy! I'll check it out.

We rented a house for a couple of years before we finally broke down and bought ours. We had the opportunity to buy the rental. It was TWO acres and rather than a fence it has palmetta grass as the border. There must have been 40 of those plants. We got wasps really bad and bees there - they loved to nest in them. I was petrified of the kids getting into them...I have a fear too. That is why we moved. DH got chased while cutting grass one day - I've never seen him run so fast! the lawnmower ended up in our neighbors yard. He jumped and ran without stopping it. Sorry ya'll are having issues - I hope they can get rid of them quickly!

I know you are excited about the clothes! You'll have to treat yourself :-)

Tootie - good luck with your 5K. I'm running/jogging/walking depending on my fitness level in November. I'm excited! :-)

Way to go Tootie. I say go for the 5K. There is no shame in walking part of it. Finishing is finishing, and there is nothing quite like that feeling.

Sorry about the bees Kathy. Yuck!! Congrats on the outfit!! Can't wait until you are able to get it!

I walked with the boys yesterday. I have been power walking more than running since the 5K. After surgery I won't be able to run for awhile, and I am working with DS so he can run with me, so I have slowed down a little to his pace. I am REALLY ok with that. It is such a joy for him to be so interested in running. I am hoping by the time I recover from surgery he will be ready to run with me. DH is getting home early tonight. He is supposed to go to the track with us!!

WTG Tootie! You're doing great! I agree with the other, go for the 5K!!

Lyn~ Hope the fill gives you some restriction. Take care.

Sugarbean~ Yowza! Sounds painful! Hope your legs feel better soon.

Kathy~ Hope you get the bees under control. I don't like them either. My son got stung by a wasp (on his head) a couple of weeks ago. Thank goodness he wasn't allergic. It scared me.

Renewed~ Have fun at the track!! It must be nice to have your whole family involved.

Went to my run club this AM. Thursday is cross trainning day. However we start out on the treadmill for 20 minutes, but we icreased our speed and incline. Holy Moly!!! I usually run at about 4.2 which is like walking for some people. Today I ran at 5.5 for 2 minutes. Then the eliptical. Not a fan!!! I think I am too short, it is an uncomfortable stretch for my arms and my stride. Anyway did 20 minute minutes. The last 15 was better than the first 5 minutes.

I am nervous about Saturday. We will be outside in the near by park running (walk if need) for 70 minutes. It is about 6.5 miles. I just dont want to be the worst person on the team. Is that terrrible, I want some one to be worse than me!

Thanks for the info on the fill. _ I really need it.

Went shopping with my DD tonight. I fit snuggly into a sixe 10 jeans. I had to buy then. I wanted to leave the size 10 tags on then.,

You may be too short - those arm handles will kill you. I'm always sore after the elliptical machine - I do like it a lot though. I hate, hate, hate the stairclimber. That thing is pure torture!

You'll do great with your run Lyn! Remember there is always someone out there that is worse than you. The reverse is always true. Do your best - that's all that counts.

I'm so envious - size 10. Ah, I'm counting the days! I'm so glad we don't have credit cards anymore. Size 10 would have definately caused a shopping spree! Hell, leave the tags on! You can innocently say you forgot, "Oh, is that still there...while pointing to the 10". You go girl!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
