That was fun... I'm up 2nd! Whee Whooo! I did just over 2 miles, but did 5 min intervals of walk/run. I didn't want to push it too much, as I've run a lot the last few days. So I'll enjoy my short lived 2nd place!!!

Everyone is so excited, I am on the outside lookin' in! Now I am definitely going to get a nike+ I want to join the party!

I ran on the treadmill tonight, it is so weird for me. I was able to get in 1.5miles and I couldn't take it anymore. Note to self - get home earlier!

I got my nike plus at Academy.

I waited too late to run as well. It kicked my butt. I thought I night die. I did 5 miles. I ran the 1st mile and then for the rest of the time I ran through one song and then walked through the next song. It was the hardest 5 miles of my life.

Going to bed now!!

O

MacMadame, when you get set up PM me and I will try and add you to the challenge.

Do I have to do anything besides make an account? Because I just did that. So does that mean I'm set up?

And will the run I did today count?!?!?!

You will be there in no time. I really dreaded changing mine too, but I felt empowered when I did. It was kinda weird. That simple act seemed like it was an act of me retaking control of my goals. I am where I am, and ionly I can do anything about it. We can do this. Can't wait to see our ticker's moving in the right direction very soon!!!

BTW, Just got back from the allergy doctor. My little Dylan(the curly headed one) is allergic to eggs and corn. Yikes!! We now have more than one reason not to eat processed foods. Corn Syrup is in most of that junk. Anyway, he is also allergic to molds and goat weed. We live in East Texas. There is no way to avoid molds and goat week. He may have to have allergy shots at some point, but as long as benadryl and Zyrtec works we are sticking with that. Dalton had a lot of allergies and outgrew them. I am praying Dylan will do the same!!

Anyone want to join me with a ticker update in the morning. A fresh start we might say. I don't want to have to lose 7 pounds before any of it "counts".

ANy takers??

I'm with you. Also, thanks for adding me to the challenge, I know I won't rack up the most miles but it is great motivation. Today was my first day back running since Dec. 27th and it felt good.

BTW, does anyone else have any issues with their Nike+ sensor being off? I calibrated back in September and then again a month ago and it is still off by 0.30 miles average (0.30 lower than I actually ran).

MacMadame, As long as you have the sensor on the the nike plus set up on your ipod and started the run using it then it should count. I will see if I can set you up on the challenge.

MacMadame, I don't seem to have your email address. PM it to me and I will invite you to the challenge.

Thatdegirl, Mine seems to be on as far as the calibration. Can you recalibrate yours?? To be honest, I don't remember calibrating mine. Surely I did. It is right on with distances. Don't worry about being in first place. The goal is just to keep us all motivated. Everyone is doing a great job!!

Renewed... my god girl... you are such an all or nothing person (I've said that before)!! You went from not running at all to running over 10 miles in 24 hours!!! The heat is definately on for this challenge! HAHA.

Ok, after 3 days of running, I need to take a rest break today. Let my muscles heal. But tomorrow I'm going to complete 4 miles. That will put me at over 20 miles since Dec. 26th, which completes a 20mile challenge I enterred.

I recalibrated my Nike+ on Saturday and it worked much better. The trick is to catch it right on the distance with your treadmill (or 1/4 mile track). I screwed up the first time, but now it seems to be keeping distance bang on.

I'm travelling to St. Paul the first week of Feb for work. I hear its even colder there than it is here! Brrrrr! But its a few days with a gym, so I'm looking forward to being able to do some strength training.

I really am all or nothing. That is why cahllenges like this help me so much, because if you can just give me a good reason to do something I am all on it.

I have a NSV. After my run tonight I decided to see how it compared to my last 5 mile run prior to PS. I wanted to see how much I need to improve before I am at my prerace condition. Here are my numbers

Run Date 10/09/08 1/06/09

Distance 5.02 miles 5.01 miles

Time 53 min 10 sec 53 min 11 sec

Avg Mile 10 min 34 sec 10 min 36 sec

Cal Burn 646 644

How cool is that. I guess I didn't lose much ground during my recovery. I must say, however, it seems much harder now than before.

Tonight i grilled salmon and made a most yummy salad for supper. It was wonderful.

Now if I could only be my "all" self all of the time. I guess I will just enjoy it while it lasts.

Renewed... Great NSV! I'd say you lost no ground! Of course its going to be harder, you haven't run consistently in a long time (end of Oct I think). But look what you have accomplished. Most people who've had PS take months and months to recover, let alone bounce back to exercise in the time you have! I'm in awe of your progress! Its healthy to not be all or nothing all the time. Falling off the regiment makes you more approachable, more human... LOL!

Lyn... Did you get my positive thoughts and prayers today? How'd the interview go? It was funny, I was in the middle of a meeting when my Blackberry buzzed my reminder. So when I discreetly looked at it, a little smile came to my face, and I sent my thoughts and prayers... kind of made my meeting! LOL.

Great NSV Renewed! You and Whosya are kicking butt on the challenge!

I can relate to the all or nothing mentality. When I'm doing good, I am sooooo focused and dedicated. But if I "fall off the wagon" it's all over....I really need to work on that because we can't be perfect all the time, it's just not possible.

If I run today, it probably won't be very far. My foot has been bothering me since yesterday. It's probably because I went from not running at all, to doing 4 miles a day. I'll just have to see later.

Have a great ya'll!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
