ocbreeze4u, you are my twin. My surgery is scheduled for July 24 also. I on the other hand have a 2 week liquid diet to follow. I weigh in at 268. I am hoping for a 100 # loss, then we'll see where I'm happy with my weight. I had to appeal my Aetna insurance only once. I also sent a letter with my resubmittance of my info. My surgery is exactly 1 year and a day after my intial consult with the surgeon about the possiblity of the LB surgery. My appointment was made in April and I can't believe it's finally getting closer to that time. Yaay us!!! Susan:thumbup:

Linksmom-You are my twin but I still do not get the liquid diet thing that I read everyone has to do??? My doctor nor my insurance does not require it but I do have to be on liquids 48 hours prior and on an empty stomach 12 hours before surgery.

Yea! I got my surgery date today too but I seem to feel only nervous. I am pretty freaked out! I want this but all the questions keep running through my head...Am I crazy? Will it really work for me? Will it be worth the money(I am self pay). How can I calm myself down? I know it would totally be worth it if I can actually succeed but I have 120 lbs. to lose and it seems like such a large amount. You seem so confident, can you pass some on to me? Thanks

Maybe I am confident due to I have seriously looked at this for over 3 years and I actually personally know 3 people that have had this done, one had 220 lbs. to lose and two years later she is only 20 lbs away from her target weight of 145!!!

I can do this and I have 97 lbs to lose...You can do this! It will take some hard work on your part and hefty payments over the next 5 years (wink) but your health and longevity is worth it.

Good luck to you!

tottie, Don't allow those thoughts!! Each time you wonder if you will do this say, YES IAM GOING TO DO THIS!!!!!!!!!! It will work. You can do it, we all can.

I had all my pre-op yesterday and all is a go. They gave me a wonderful book with hundreds of recipes for the liquid phase etc... I also found out yesterday that my surgeon thinks 2 wks of liquid after surgery is not required. Its 4 days then onto pureed for 4 wks. I have to liquid 24 hrs before surgery. 6 days to go. Iam so excited. I can't wait to get this 85 lbs off of me.

Just think tottie, you will be 120 lbs less when all is said and done. Set 10 lbs goals for yourself and they will go by quicker than you think.

Congrats OCBreeze Congratulations. You're right you CAN do this. I applaud you for your perseverance and all the hard work you have put in to get here... That's definetly a mix for success.

I don't get the diet thing either with shrinking the liver and such because my surgeon told me if I lost 5-10 pounds and kept it off before surgery that he didn't care if I did the pre op diet. So I lost 8 pounds and had Italian as my last dinner before surgery at my favorite restraunt.... I just had to have eaten it before 7 pm the night before LOL

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
