NSV - I went Skydiving

Recommended Posts

I've always wanted to go skydiving, but have been over the permissable weight since I've been old enough. Well, I turned 30 on Saturday and for my birthday I went skydiving! It was amazing!

Now I just need to figure out how to convince my head that I am at a more normal weight. When they had me step on the scale I was convinced it would read out heavier than I am. Then, when I went to put on the jump suit I really didn't think it would fit... But it all did and I had a BLAST (and survived  )

Anyway - just had to share!

SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I share the same dream, but was always terrified of being weighed at the jump site. I can't wait to fulfill my dream.

GOOD FOR YOU!

That sounds wonderful. I wish I had enough guts to do that. I can't even handle roller coasters.:crying: Are you going again? And congratulations on the great weight loss.

Wow, I never realized that they weigh you.

Whata great 30th birthday gift to yourself! Did you get any of your dive on video?

Congrats on your achievement! I've also been skydiving and it's an awesome opportunity. I don't believe they weighed me before the jump, but I know another person I went, they didn't have a jump suit to fit her. I got mine on video, cuz I didn't know if I'd ever do it again (I'm scared of heights). It's awesome though! As far as a reply to another post, I've also been parasailing... Quite an experience also! :biggrin2:

Congratulations!!!! and Happy 30th.

I just got back from Tennessee where I rode in a helicopter. It was soooo fun. (not as thrilling as skydiving, I'm sure) But, this would have been something I could not have done last year. It was nice not to have to worry If I weighed too much. 70 pounds ago, they would have said no go.

Congrats on skydiving and Happy Birthday! That's a goal I've set for myself too. I had no idea that they actually have you step on a scale!! Yikes. The place I'm going has a max of 225lbs (or you can pay $25 for each pound over that!)...I'm hoping to go once I drop below 200 (about 40 lbs away). Who knows when that will be, but it will happen and it will be a MAJOR NSV for me too.

Welcome to the sky! I used to skydive regularly and had almost 500 jumps before I had to hang it up due to my weight and getting married.

Once I get banded and back down to a normal weight, I can't wait to get back into the sky.

It's like nothing else and I'm glad that you got to experience it!

Thanks all! It was totally awesome - and yes I did get video. Before I went I always said I just want to do it once --- now I really want to go just one more time :)

As for the weigh in - I knew they were going to do it and that the limit was 220 (absolute limit - 221 and you could not jump) so it was good motivation for me to work harder than ever to get in shape and it was a blast!

For those of you thinking of going, even if you are afraid of heights - do it! There's nothing like it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
