It's me again! I have been surfing tonight and looking for some new ideas for recipes. I loved these recipes scroll the left side for some of them but there are some unique ideas for nacho chips and rolls, etc. I love some of them and I am going to definately be making them...

I seriously HATE that time of the month! Grrrr! The stupid scale is going in the wrong direction. Up another half pound this morning. I know for a fact it is not my food. I have been so dedicated. Yesterday my totals were 1041 calories, 17g carbs, 87g Protein. That is typical of what I have ate every day for the last week. Plus I have been exercising quite a bit. Sorry... I just needed to vent. I'm mad!!

You have the double whammy...TOM and Exercise...when did you start exercising? I know when I first started about 8 weeks ago that the scale yo yo'd up and down for about the first month it wasn't until a few weeks ago the scale started to move...

Don't get discouraged...you will have a woosh this week I am sure. Not a problem with venting...we all need it now and then.

Keep up the great work!

Cindy

Well I have been exercising regularly for the last 6 months, but I did way more then usual this last week. I took a step class AND I am in week 2 of the couch to 5K program.

I hope I have a "whoosh"! I'm so mad at the scale I want to go pig out. (I wont of course... it just sounds good right now hahahah)

Holly, that was great information on sugar alcohols.

After the great reviews I ran to Walmart (well, drove, LOL) and got some of the Caramel Nut Chews. OMG! Deee-ricious!

Had one as my after dinner treat and this morning have gone from large ketosis to trace ketosis. From the calculation in that article they have 9.5 carbs! I had counted it as 2.

I guess for me they will have to be a "once in a while" treat.

I am still kind of bummed because I was under 30 carbs for the day. I was going to try some strawberries or blueberries this week to see what would happen to my ketosis. I'm a little gunshy now.

Good morning all. My scales finally have moved again (at least in a direction I am willing to admit) I am down 2 pounds this morning!!! I will definately be behaving this week.

Mamato, I am sure you will soon drop some major pounds. You are sticking to this diest so well. I know it is very frustrating. There have been several times that the same thing has happened to me. If I stuck with it the weight fell off. A few of the times I said heck with it and ate what I wanted. I always regretted it when I did that. Hang in there!!! You are doing great. The scales will show it!!!

So yesterday my bff and I went to a casino that just opened here in Indiana. We got there around 7pm and I did not get home until 6am this morning!!! We seriously played video slots all night long on just a couple hundred dollars. It was so fun...even though we came home broke. There was one time when I played on $10 for 3 hours! There were several times where we should have just cashed out but noooooooo....

The point of my story... I hadn't had anything to eat since lunch and planned on eating dinner at the casino, but when we got there we were totally drawn in and missed dinner. We were both starving on the way home and she wanted to stop at IHOP. As much as I wanted to say yes, I resisted and she ordered a to go order. It smelled so good but I remember how I felt a day earlier about the pizza and I didn't want to ruin in with pancakes or stuffed french toast. Also I knew I was going home to go to bed and I didn't want to fall asleep on a stomach full of crap food.< /p>

I now feel great about my decision!

Holly -- you are awesome! How did you know that mexican is one of my faves. I was just thinking of going to get a taco salad and eating the insides. I think I'll wait and try this recipe! :tt1:

Mama -- you are doing great! Hang in there! I'm just trying to get where you are! I know it's frustrating, but you know it will come off! Darn that Eve for eating the apple. It's her fault we have a TOM! :tt2:

Ellgee -- I'm with you! The bars are definitely going to be a once in a while treat. I haven't made it to ketosis yet and it must be from the caramel nut chews. Why's everything so good gotta be so bad! :tt1:

I'm also happy to report that I finally got that 5 pounds off I gained the week before my fill (that didn't work). Today I'm officially down 1 new pound! I get to move my ticker! Yee-haw!!!

Ok...so I suck today. I stayed on plan all day through dinner and everything and then bam....I gave into a craving that I have been having all summer. I ate an ice cream sundae tonight...not just an ordinary sundae but a gushy, choc. cake, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whip cream, nuts and cherries and a large portion. I was sick after eating it. I know that it will take me about week to lose what I will gain from this little indulgence.

B: 2 eggs & 4 slices of bacon

S: DD Ice coffee, cream & Splenda

L: Celery Stix and Blue cheese Veggie Dip

S: 2 oz. Dry Roasted Mixed Nuts

D: Steak Tips with pepper, mushroom & onion and mashed cauliflower

S: The Ice Cream Sundae from Hell!

Everyone else is doing marvelous. Great job for staying on track.

Cindy

Hi...I am interested in joining this thread!!

I was banded on 12/12, have lost 70 pounds and the scales have STOPPED!!! I still would like to lose another 25-30 pounds, but I am discouraged in finding recipes. Can you all share some websites or recipes?

Also, once you get going, what is the avg. weight loss for low carb? This is the plan that my great doc recommended.

Thanks!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
