I am 11 weeks post op from Gastric Sleeve Surgery

Recommended Posts

Hello all

First of all I would like to introduce myself, My name is Nia I am 26 Years old from the UK and I am new to this site.

I am 11 Weeks post op today after having Gastric Sleeve surgery and 56 pounds lighter.

I have been morbidly obese for the past 10 years and finally after years of visiting my doctor decided to have obeseity surgery abroad (as it's much cheaper), after years of looking at different types of treatments and looking into different company's I finally found the perfect one.

I had the operation in Bruno with a company called Cosmetic Bliss who are now also helping US patient's as well as us Brits(they're link is on this web page somewhere) and I can tell you that I think that they are an amazing company.

Please feel free to ask any questions as I am more than happy to share my experience.

:):rolleyes2::lol:

Can you tell me if you are able to eat pretty normally except for obvious Portion Control? My psychologist told me at my pre-op appt that she wondered why I would not have the sleeve instead of band because it is "less restrictive" - I need to lose 50 lbs.

Hi

I have nearly 168lb to lose and have lost over 50 of that already.

I was on liquid diet for two weeks, mushy food for 2 weeks and have been on solid food for the past 7 weeks, I can eat VERY little at a time, but don't feel hungry anymore(which is VERY weird). at the moment it takes me about 20 mins to eat a slice of toast.

but i am feeling great :)

I AM BOOKED TO GO BACK soon (YEPEEE) and hope i will have weight loss same as you! Have you any good tips to follow

Dear nia, i would like to start off saying congratulation on your wieght loss thats amazing in 11 weeks.

I too have been recomended to do the sleeve, originally i wanted to do the lapband was told that i was a better fit for the sleeve due to being morbitally obesse, due you mind if i ask your height and wieght prior to surgery.

I am curious to know this based on my doctors suggestions for recomending the sleeve to me, and not the band to better understand somewhat the wehgtloss process as well.

Thanks so much, i hope you dont find the question insulting in anyway....

I'm 5'1" and weighed only 206 when I had my consult (I was 223 when I started the whole process though.)

I don't think the superiority of the sleeve is all about how high your BMI is. However, there is a concern with some surgeons that someone with a higher BMI won't lose enough with the band. So maybe that's why your surgeon recommended it to you.

I was previously MO at a BMI of 42 with a band. I was a BMI of 20 when I revised to a sleeve. Maintaining my weight was no easy task on the post op diet.

Mexico rocks for sleeve surgery! Make sure your surgeon has done AT LEAST 250 sleeves AND!! 250 bypass procedures. That will give you at least 500 staple lines for experience. Bypass staple lines are MUCH harder to do that sleeve staple lines, if your surgeon cannot handle a bypass staple line, do you want him doing ANY staple line on YOU?

Hi Nia,

I am looking at going to Brno too. Do you know how many Gastic Sleeves they have done now and do they have morbidity stats etc?

Cheers,

Jane

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
