I have noticed that my largest incision site is starting to get very hard as it heals. It feels that there is something underneath the skin (the port is in a different area, and I can feel it). My friend looked at it and said that it was probably a keloid scar forming. Does anyone know how to get rid of it, or to at least help make it less "hard"? I dont really mind since no one will probably ever see my stomach again, but I still would like to get rid of it.

From personal experience I haven't been able to do much to prevent keloids. I ALWAYS get them when I have surgery. In the past I have had the dermatlogist inject them with cortizone to flatten them out. Good luck!

You can always use Vitamin E creams, they help alot after the scars have healed, you can get them basically anywhere just make sure you rub it in twice a day, it won't fully go away but it does help with the overall appearance of the scar

Don't worry Aphrodite, you are only a couple of weeks out. Once the incisions are closed up, start using Vitamin E cream or oil. Massage is the most important thing to stop keloid scars forming.

All surgery incisions feel very "hard" in the first 2-4 weeks. The same thing happened to me, i freaked out because i thought i was getting keloid scars, but 3 months out and my scars are just fine - getting better every day.

Hope this helps - just do what you can, with Vitamin E or Cica-Care strips (if you can afford them), and all will be good.

I have always had a problem with keloid scarring. I had my ears pierced years ago and I developed terrible keloids on my ears and they kept getting bigger (THE KELOIDS) until they were surgically removed. I also had steroid injections to stop my skin scarring again . The surgeon said that my skin overreacts to scars. I also had a C.Section and had the same problem but this time the keloid didn't grow bigger. I have keloid scarring from my band surgery but they are not growing so I'm not really bothered. I've learnt to live with it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
