Okay I finally figured out pictures with my new camera and am posting a pic of the dress I got today. Also wanted to show you guys the trees, wreath and pheasant ball ornaments we made from all our pheasant feathers and our tree all decorated 'pheasant'. Hopefully this works. the pic with the Santas in it are Santas we used to make and sell in craft shows.

Lori, the dress is beautiful, just as you are.

I love the pheasant feather decorations, you are very good at making them. I love doing craft projects, I have also used pheasant feathers. That was back when I was married & he hunted a lot.

Lori...love the ornaments. Are those Santas some your DH carved for you. They are very unique.

Love your dress also. Not the one you planned on buying?

Deb...we cannot control what comes out of others mouths or try to figure out why some ppl say what they do. It's for us to figure out how to either respond or walk away from it and let it go. I am working on that. We all go through the "comments" stage for awhile. It is all getting better for me.

Good going on getting your treadmill up and going again.

Great...forgot to add how wonderful and slim you look in that dress. Looks like you've dropped weight since we met a little over a month ago.

Thanks Apples, the dress must be doing it's job as I really haven't lost any weight since I saw you. Maybe 2 lbs. doubt you'd notice that. LOL It is a different dress than I had planned on. And yes DH carved those Santas, we used to sell tons of them. He didn't carve me one this Christmas though. Told him he owes me 2 next year. LOL We carved and sold so many he really hates doing them now. He's much happier making fish and birds. He's even won ribbons for his fish in carving competitions.

Laura, good job on getting the treadmill out!

Arlene,Thanks!!

Great - OMG YOU LOOK MARVELOUS BABY !!!! You know if the 10 doesn't work you can take the 12 and have it altered...

Love the decorations...

Laurak - WTG to rocking the treadmil - do you have it where you can watch tv or listen to music - I bought and Ipod and have it loaded and rockout on the treadmill - mostly fast song some slow - i do higher inclines at a lower speed on the slow songs - but gf I didn't start doing inclines till I lost the weight and needed to up what I was doing to burn the calories - when you weigh less you burn less calories - Where as when I was 250 I would burn like 200 cal in a half hour - now that takes me 1.5 miles to burn 200 cal

Yep Apples & Great - I know I might offend some pple reading this thread - but as we all know I am all about tough band love - the operative word being love -

I really do believe most pple who drop out of lbt - aren't doing well - it's been my sole support system since I began this journey 5/07

And I go and look at the main mentor thread - and see all these pple asking for a mentor (I will invite them to come and join us) - but they don't come here and we are the most looked at and active thread on the mentor thread page..

Go figure..

Well need to go see what's up for dinner

Ya Cheri - 5 minutes consume 1000 calories - here you on that one - that why I buy 1 candy bar if I really really just have to have one -

My treadmill is in my DD room, that's why I had to wait for her to go back to school to get it back out. I have a tv in there so watch the news in the am for 15 mins then put on my ipod for 15 mins. Then it's off to get ready for work. I am still doing zumba on thurs too. My gf & I are going to start walking at nights once we get rid of this cold snap.

I think you are right about people dropping out not doing well, I sure do miss some of the ones that used to post here and pray that isn't the case. But I love how you dish out the advice, Janet, I have a hard time toning it down a lot of the times, but you do so well. Hence the success of this thread.

Good evening everyone~~~

Great~ OMW! You look amazing! I really like that dress. It's classy and unique looking. Is the shirt the same color as your eyes? Really nice.

Janet~ We are glad you are like you are. I would rather spend time with other successful bandsters who shoot straight from the hip- than ONE minute with someone who is not doing what they should do and B&Ming that the band failed them. I had to leave my original thread from people who had surgery the same month I did. Everyone was complaining. All the Debbie downers really get on my nerves. Not sure if I told you guys a few weeks back my dr's office called me to see how I was b/c I hadn't been in since Sept.. They have a lot of people get off track over the holidays and call to see if you need to come in. DH said, you should have said "yeah, not doing too well, weight is around 400!" I am not that quick. : )

Apples~ I can only imagine how the unsolicited comments can bother you. My BFF is 5'9" and about 118 lbs. She has been this weight since 18 except when she was pregnant and gained 16 lbs with each pregnancy. She eats 5000 calories min. each day. People don't think twice about commenting on her weight. I remember when she was 6 months pregnant we went to get her some preggo jeans. The lady came over to me and patted my tummy and asked "when are you due?!" My friend was more upset than me. But people don't think before speaking. It's just so rude. I know you are excited about coming to FL! I really hope the weather warms before you come!

Laura K~ congrats on the exercise! wtg!

We survived yet another birthday party. DH went with me today, which made it much more tolerable. It was at the local bowling alley which entertained them more than the other party. The mother of the kid's is a surgeon and the father is a nurse practitioner. A lot of their friends were also in the medical field, so DH knew a lot of the fathers. Nels got to see his GF, Alexia. He was soooo happy! They were really cute bowling next to each other. : ) Her birthday is next Sunday and we will be in Miami that weekend for a conference. I know the little guy is bummed to miss it. We will get her a present anyways. The only thing I ate today for lunch was the top off of one tiny slice of cheese pizza. Tonight we had grilled marinated lamb chops and couscous with a Moroccan chickpea stew.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I will check in tomorrow! peasout... Laura

Thanks gang - I think that we are all like minded in our approach to the band - none of us thought it was the magic wand..

So newbies & guess reading this post - we don't want to be mean and turn you off - we really are here to help - but you do have to want to help yourself too - Sorry to say the band isn't going to do it all by it's self..

But we are here to support you - give you advice - let you rant - rave and tell us all about the good stuff too..

Laura - glad you had a good time at the party - when I was 3 and 4 & 5 we went to the same beach house every yr and so did another family - there son was my bf ;0) Johnny was his name..

Apples - I pm'd Judy the other day - she's sad but doing as well as can be expected - told me to give Angel a hug from her Aunt Judy...

We should all p.m. her again - don't want her turning to food in her grief

ok I want to reply more - Laurak wtg on your exercise plan but I gotta go start dinner & lunch for the week

Good evening!

Laura, my eyes are a weird green/blue color sometimes they look blue and sometimes green. I call them green. But DD really liked that blue on me as it brought out my eyes. I also tried on that top with the skirt in red. DH really liked the red, but I was afraid of that being too bold of a color. Decision was made when they couldn't get it in any size but a 6. I could button the 6 but couldn't breathe. LOL

Too cute about Nelson and his girlfriend.

JB, been thinking about your and your loss. Hope each day is getting easier for you.

Phyl, Dang, I just can't catch your scores in Suduko! But I will one of these games.

Well my leg is pretty achy tonight. Probably a little too much mall. DH & DD were so good to me though. DD would run ahead and find where the dress depts were in the store before I walked all over and DH would move the car near that store/door. So I don't htink I really overdid it, but definitely did it to the max. Therapy tomorrow might be a challenge and taking Grandma shopping and to lunch. Unless she cancels on me again, she's been doing that a lot lately. I think really she'd be happy if she never had to leave her apartment. She's getting so she hates to go out. I can sortta understand it and it's hard for her, but don't want her to get too depressed or give up either. She's fully capable of small trips out.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
