Hi Everyone,

Sitting in a casino bar, using free internet, wanted to catch up with you.

Apples, Ever here of Bossy Bingo? Might be a MI thing. They make squares in a fenced area turn a cow lose and where ever she poos that square is the winner. lol

I may try Vegas in Oct, got to check finances and work, bummer, would prob stay on strip so DD can come and drive to see you guys.

Salt Lake Flats/Bonneville was amazing. This little bumpkin has seen so much on this trip.

DD is freaking a bit, town is very small. She will feel better when her stuff gets here and internet is hooked up at her apt. Think she may be appreciating momma now & home.

I'll check in when I can.

Laura K

Good Morning, Gang! I've been trying to keep up with posts, but new puppy is REALLY keeping me busy! I bet I have a weight loss THIS week! I'm up and down a bazillion times a day, in and out of the house for potty trips, playing catch. Little stinker's favorite play, though, is chewing on your hands and I don't so much like that because she gets too rough. So I'm trying to find some small chew toy I can keep by my chair and transition her to that. I don't like my hands and fingers chewed on!! LOL! She's on the floor with a chew toy right now, after attacking DH's brand new Crocs for a minute! Our living room looks like we have a toddler! Don't remember if I shared photos or not, but here is a new one of "Zoey"!

Hi everyone~

I wrote a LONG post last night and I hit spell check and the whole computer went blank! ughhhhh! It was very nice and informative, commented on everyone, etc... Just use your imagination. ; )

Nelson was at the oceanographic camp for 4 days. He did like it and learned a TON! but.... Yesterday they went seining (fishing with a net) down near swamp and mangroves, and even though I sprayed him down with off he got eaten ALIVE! He is COVERED in bites! Then after all that they didn't reapply sunscreen for the 3rd day in a row and now the back of his neck is really burned. Then to top it off he was really dehydrated- they really were not insisting the kids drink Water. So, kept him out of camp today and probably won't send him next week. I think I have reason and should get a refund.

I hope everyone is ok. Sorry I missed Apples and the gang. I am happy she is going to LV! Wow, I really hope it works out that I can go. I won't know until closer to the time. My sister might start work and she is really the only one I could leave Nels with.

I need to go get work done. Just wanted to say hi, albeit brief! will CBL. Peasout.............. Laura

PS the photo is Hutchinson Island where the camp was! Hard life for a 6 yr old. : )

Hi all, just checking in. Laura and LauraK do hope you can make it. Cheri, if you can't get anyone else to help you I'll check on them for you and then you could just call the airline and book. No problem. I buy everything on line and pay everything on line. I couldn't live anymore without a computer. Would kill me -and TIVO -- I think life would be very miserable without either. LOL

Phyll, that Zoey is one cutie pie -- you will probably lose weight -- the puppy stage is tough -- I usually adopt two year olds -- that way they are done chewing and are house trained -but you do miss out on some fun -- you'll get through it -- it's worth it. Saw a very sad story on the news this morning -- just broke my heart -- a beautiful pit bull who the owners said was gentle and never hurt anyone had to be put down because the owners were irresponsible - I guess Des MOines has a city ordinance that any pit bull (and I think some other known to be aggressive breeds) must be on leashes at all times, the owners must carry $100,000 liability insurance and there's a two strike limit -- and the dog was seen for the third time loose in the yard (no leash) so they put her to sleep. The owners are upset cause they say they couldn't afford the insurance. Okay, well, you can afford to put a leash on the dog and if not you shouldn't have a dog to begin with. Oh, it just made me so angry! But it is good that they brought the story to the attention of other pet owners in case they don't know about the law.

Gotta run, I'm at work, just checking in. Was at the gym at 5:30 a.m.

I take it that these pple were renters and not home owners - as there homeowners would cover the liability - well as long as they didn't have a exclusion for dogs...

I don't know about pple who let their dogs run wild - we use to in the old days but not any more - back in the day my little muffin ran the streets- I have dog tickets to prove it ;0)..

My dogs are in the house or back yard - if not someone would steal them.. So sad..

Phyl - puppies - i hear you - ryder is still a puppy can't wait for that stage to be over - hell another yr 1/2 - I would say that the 1st 2 yrs are the hardest - puppy then teenage stage- bear's 5 - angels' 4 - they no longer chew or get into thing - ryder - well that's another story...

Laura - Hopefully everything will work out and you will come - i just know it will

Cheri - re: airfare - think one of the gals (maybe LauraK) mentioned Southwest had good fares. Can call them and check.

I also buy lots of things on line and have not had problems.

Phyll - love your new Zoey. Enjoy her.

I'm sorry I booked my air before all of you. Would have flown in on Thursday and left on Monday. Oh well - $150 to change and there will be other trips.

Julie - I am NOT a shopper and won't be able to keep up with the others. So you and I could sit by the pool together, if you decide to join the group. Hopefully mayo clinic will have you sorted out and painfree and ready to Celebrate.

Bossy Bingo is tooooooo funny. And I thought I was from a small town.

Karen - soooo happy you are joining us. Have a great lake weekend.

Joyce

P.S. I was missing with internet problems yesterday

Thanks everyone for the offers of help. I know Ken can check Priceline and Orbitz, but it is confusing. I can fly out of Chicago Midway or O'Hare. I don't have next fall's school schedule at home. I doubt I'm off Monday (sometimes we have off Columbus Day--not sure if that's Columbus Day.

I can leave school early Friday if I have to to get to the airport. Ken is usually off Sunday night/Monday morning so could probably fetch me Sunday evening.

So if you run across any flights that would fit that time frame, let me know. I can tell Ken and he can actually book it. He was just really crabby last night and apologized. He was also paying bills and we had some high ones that totally ate up his salary. But with all the work I'm doing this summer we should have some I can set aside for this. It's just that we're getting estimates on putting our basement back together after having to tear out all the walls and the bathroom to put in permaseal and get rid of the mold from the flooding.

Anyway, I've been on the phone or e-mailing a lot of people for various work things yesterday and today. I also have been writing articles, rewriting other's articles and editing the final version of the school's newsletter. I'm not teaching summer school Fridays but I did go tutor my neice this morning. Phew! I don't think I'll really get any vacation this summer so I don't feel guilty about the October thing. I'll have earned it.

Fantastic news Julie!!! So happy -- yes, Mayo will definitely see you -- I hope soon. Tell them you'll take any appt. any time -- ask them to put you on a list for cancellations. This will soon be over.

Joyce, Julie, with my hectic schedule, just laying around the pool sounds lovely -- I may just lay around the pool too and just relax in LV as I've been there so much (also lived there) and have seen it all and shop more than I need -- so I'll keep you all company I'm sure.

Arlene, love your positive attitude -- keep it up -- it WILL happen I promise!!!

Cheri, you're so busy too -- we women just don't ever stop, do we? I'm going to go check some flights right now.

Yeah... I do the same... buy a lot of things on the internet, pay most of my bills online. I love automatic bill pay... don't have to worry about when they're due, don't have to write checks or pay postage... everything gets paid on time. No worry! Always make my travel arrangements online. Usually book cruises by phone, but start online... find hte one I want for the price I want.

We still have a Tivo in our bedroom, but have HD TV in the LR and use the Comcast DVR. Like Tivo better! Had a DirecTV Tivo in the RV but it quit last winter. And since they no longer have a contract with Tivo, had to accept the new one they sent us.

Zoey is 6 mos old... trouble with that is... she's already developed a few bad habits... like she likes to chew on fingers! Kennel lady that had her let her do that. But I don't like it so I'm trying to break that habit by telling her "NO" and giving her something else to chew on when she starts that. It's just her way of playing... but I don't want my hands chewed on! She's piddled on the carpet twice... but not since yesterday, and I think she's getting that pretty good. Gotta train her to walk with the leash. Dh has her outside now and is trying to trim her but she is freaking out.

I went to www.cheapair.com and found the following:

Leave Chicago O'Hare Fri., 10/1 America Airlines #1417 at 2:25 p.m. non stop to Vegas -- arriving at 4:10 p.m.

Return Oct. 3 Frontier 772 leaves at 8:00 am. connecting to Midwest Air No. 531 in Denver arriving at 3:01.

Total $371 with all taxes, charges, etc. All the cheaper flights have you leaving either early on Friday a.m. (like 7:00 a.m. or leaving late afternoon and you wouldn't land in Vegas until 8:30 or 9:00 p.m.

That's not a bad price -- except leaving so early on Sunday isn't great. I'm paying that much with all the extra charges they charge -- extra for seats, suitcases, etc. with Allegiant -- but looks like that's the total price you'd pay. Check it out. Instead of leaving so early on Sunday, you might want to check out leaving MOnday am or search the airlines individually. Just call Frontier and ask what later flights they have and what the price difference would be.

Here's another I found at www.frontier.com flying and out of Midway -- times are much better, but price higher:

Frontier Flt. 053 leave Midway Oct. 1 at 3:39 pm to Denver; leave Denver flt. F9 0773at 6:05 to LV arrive at 6:58

Leave Oct. 3 Frontier Flight 79 0784 at 11:25 a.m. to Demver, Flight F9 0539 from Denver at 3:00 arrive in Midway at 6:17 pm -- much better. Price for that is $483.81 total.

You will get those scales moving WTG on the exercise !!!

Julie - Yes ck into it - we are only really in Vegas 1 solid day -

Really will only be together about a day and a half - depending on what time everyone arrives - Some of us might hit the mall for an hour or 2 - but the real reason for the trip is to get together and 1st of october should be pool weather for Vegas.. We are going to have friday night - saturday & night - then pple will be leaving Sunday..

So Please Please try to make it - You know how much fun getting together is - sitting around the table - talking talking talking

Yea on the insurance issue and of course the Mayo is going to see you !!!

Fantastic news Julie!!! So happy -- yes, Mayo will definitely see you -- I hope soon. Tell them you'll take any appt. any time -- ask them to put you on a list for cancellations. This will soon be over.

Phyl it takes time to potty train - I hate that part of puppies - Ryder was fast - but he's into everything - got home tonite - no one has been home all day - Andrew's gone for the weekend to a Concert - and Ryder got in the trash - chew a magazine - and the styrafoam in one of my fake trees...

Tomorrow while I am gone - he's going outside or going to lock him in the laundry room..

Well home from work = cleaned up ryder's mess now need to go put some streaks in my hair :0) - cbl

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
