One year later

Recommended Posts

It has been a year for me. I had my one year appointment on Monday. He said things were great. The best part of the whole appointment was that he talked with me about how my life had changed. Not the fact that I look different. But the feelings I have had before during and after. We sat and shot the Sh*t for 20 mins.

He asked me if I wanted to be in the advertising for the lapband. He has a spread in our local paper and a few papers around the area. I was very flattered but I don't know If it is something I should do.... Any thougtht?

WOW congrats on your 1 year and your awesome weight lose!!! I would be flattered too with such an offer! Well I am not one to feel comfortable in front of the camera the idea of maybe motivating someone else would be something to conceder. < For me> have you talked to your family about it yet? Most definitely a personal choice! But if you do it post the add so we can see!!! :biggrin2:

Wow - what an inspiration!!! Thanks for sharing. I too would have mixed feelings about being a poster girl - the procedure does change lives but like many, I have kept my decision to do this very private - only a few trustworthy friends and family members know - so I guess it really is going to have to be a personal decision on your part.

What do you attribute most of your success to? lack of food, exercise ??? Give some of the newbies some advice!! 8-)

Honestly, taking one day at a time. My blogs will show you I am a little crazy. I have had a lot of hard days. Remembering it is not a race! Obessing will not make it work faster. Follow the rules and workout! There is no "faster way" you have to do what works for your body and is healthy.

I would do it if it were me. I know I am so much more motivated by seeing others that are successful so I would jump at the chance to show others just what is possible with the band.

It is a very personal decision which may get you a little extra attention . . . are you ready for that? :0).

Congratulations on your accomplishment!!! Seeing "before and after" pictures of people that have accomplished their weight loss goal is the #1 best motivator for me. I feel that you will be inspiring many people by posing for it! I think you should do it 100%

Mandy,

You look absolutely adorable in your little pic there. You got for it!

BTW, I had my one year check up a few weeks ago. MY surgeon is a wonderful surgeon, but has the personality of a hemorrhoid! He did not even compliment me, just said I was on track, blabs out a buch of statistics and left the room! I don't like him.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
