Pre Op Liquid Diet

Today is day two of my 2 week pre op liquid diet and I feel like 1) I'm starving 2) very weak and 3) my brain has stopped working. I did ok yesterday during the day time, but I attribute that to the 5 hours I spent in the hospital for my pre surgery testing - couldn't leave the waiting room hence couldn't get any food or water etc. Today is a different story. I went to get some more pre op diet and post op diet items as I'll be traveling for work until about 3 days prior to my surgery. Anyway so here I am going up and down the aisle as the super walmart near by and my strength is waining. Aisle after aisle of stuff I would love to have right now and here I am picking up slim fast, chicken broth and sugar free jello. It was very very tough. But I made it out of there surprisingly with only one contraband item - tostidos minis. I don't even like chips but I needed to feel something with texture (and not chalky) and in my sick little brain I thought seems how I don't really like chips that I'll only have a few. I was amazingly correct - I had only 6-7 chips and while I figured this couldn't be that bad as say making a fat steak or sticking my head in a trough of cookie dough but I know it wasn't the brightest idea either. Day two I'm turning into a nut job. I also feel very weak and tired and scared I won't make it. :woot:

Brand1lenee, hope your surgery goes well...I'm the day after. Can't wait!

Hope all goes well with your surgery!! Sending happy thoughts! Let us know how it goes as soon as you feel like posting.

Hi everyone! Last day of my preop diet! Tomorrow is surgery day! I've lost about 15 lbs, and my doc said that was good. He said that people who are able to lose weight prior to surgery do better afterwards. I am excited, because my husband and I work in the operating room and I know my nurse and scrub tech and anesthesia team personally. I know they will take good care of me! I think the preop diet really does get easier after a few days, especially if you can stay busy & drink lots of Water. I have been making crystal light slushes in the blender...

I am on Day 2 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed 2 protein shakes and 2 small meals per day. (by small i mean 6 oz lean meat and 1 serving of a green vegetable). I am having a really hard time with the protein drinks. I bought the FreshStart at the office- terrible, made me gag. I then tried a can of slimfast optima and could only get half down. I bought some Kashi protein shake mix last night, but this isn't working either. I haven't cheated, but I'm not getting all the protein in. Any suggestions? Do you think this will hurt my surgery? I'm willing to go hungry all week, but I haven't been able to choke down the shakes.
