Exercise...post surgery

Recommended Posts

I had my original surgery in Feb 08...only lost 23 pounds and now have to have a port revision next week. I had a revelation last night and realized that if I want this to work, I will have to do some work. I live in a non-supportive house where everyone thinks it is a big joke to bring my favorite ice cream in and see if I will fall. I have decided to pour myself into exercise to help quit smoking and get my mind on healthier thoughts instead of ice cream. If anyone would like an online buddy to exercise with, please let me know.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Count me in! I get banded on May 29th, so I'll only be walking for a while, but I'd love to help keep you accountable. I am on the pre-op diet right now and could stand some accountability too.

I started in the gym 4 weeks after my banding. It was so hard to get going...only lasted 5 minutes on the elliptical!! After only 3 weeks I'm up to 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes of resistance training. I only go 3-4 days a week, but I feel sooo much better!!! The days I don't go I feel so guilty and look forward to the day I go back.

I'm in for keeping each other accountable and seeing how we progress!

I would love to be an exercise buddy with you ladies!! I have a little head start because I was banded back in November and started the gym in January but I can still use a buddy!

Moon - find something you love to do at the gym and you will stick to it and see the pound roll off. I enjoy the classes that are given at my gym and get mad when I can make it.

I am slow to figure out this site so if I am slow to reply to anyone...please be patient...I love the thought of having a buddy. My best friend close to home is everything I am not. She is 6' tall with curly hair and thin as a pencil. I am undertall, overweight with hair as straight as a pencil. Thanks to everyone, maybe we can exchange emails and check in with each other daily.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
