Need ideas for "full liquids"...

Recommended Posts

My doc wanted me to pick up all the food before my surgery that I would need for 2 weeks. I have a lot of clear liquid stuff. I'm having problems with "full liquids". I don't like cream Soups. Split pea is about the only Soup I eat. Any ideas?

well my doc didn't call any phase "full liquids" so i'm guessing as to what might fall into that category...but how about Protein cold drinks (that was considered clears), such as ProtiDiet concentrated drinks or Protein shakes? maybe ones made with Water instead of milk. for the first week i just had clears, then i went to mushes and on friday i'm going to soft solids...

as for Soups, try campbell's select line (butternut squash is awesome, creamy Tomato isn't too "creamy" so it's good, mushroom Soup, etc).

Okay, this is the FIFTH time I've read about the butternut squash! I read someone other than you saying it was good before I left work. I went to Kroger's and bought it. I'm trying it tomorrow!

A word of warning, if I don't like it, and heck, even if I do, I'm letting you know!:)

I loved the butternut squash!

But, I also tried to add cream of cheddar to other stuff. I would add it to cream of chicken. It was pretty good.

If you truly don't like cream Soups, I would definitely be creative with the Protein drinks. I love something called "skinny monkey". My docs ok'd it as a "full liquid". It is 8 oz skim milk, 1 scoop chocolate Protein powder (my favorite is Body Fortress whey Protein - you can buy it at Walmart - and it is inexpensive), 1 tablespoon of low fat Peanut Butter and a frozen banana. Put is all in a blender. I think it tastes yummy. If I were you, I'd try out some recipes prior to being banded, that way you can figure out what you like. Hope this helps!

I puree bean and bacon Soup, you can puree chicken and noodle also. Just have to strain in case it doesn't puree enough. My list has sugerfree pudding and yogurt. I've done the pudding but, not the yogurt. Also my list has mashed potatoes that are watered down with broth. It should be really thinned out. But, good if your sick of all the sweet stuff like me. Good Luck.

I was on Clear Liquids for a couple of days and then added Protein Shakes. During the clear liquid stage, I drank Isopure. Then when I could have other liquids I bought the chocolate whey powder at Walmart and mixed it with skim milk in the Bullet. This morning I added a little coffee to the shake. Tomorrow I am adding a banana. The Whey powder has a lot of Protein. It tastes so much better than Isopure.

My list for full liquids is: Skim milk, thinned cream of wheat or cream of rice made with skim milk, Tomato or V8 juice (no "Splash"), no sugar added carnation instant breakfasts made with double strength skim milk (double strength skim milk= 8 oz. Skim milk w/ 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk powder.)

Hope this helps

I also am out 1 week today...

I had oatmeal for Breakfast and cream of celery Soup for lunch and dinner..I didn't get a lot of information about surgery..

But must say it was excellent. I never had a pain.

i was driving four days after surgery.. i also went to oatmeal and some soft foods earlier than some others .. i was worried that i went to soft foods too quickly. cottage cheese , oatmeal , and my favorite is Eddy's sugar free fruit bars.. it is the best for that sweet tooth.. but i must say that getting off of liquids and Proteins shakes has helped with the gas and indigestion.

I found the good old banana smoothie was great for breakfast. 1 cup of skim (0%) milk, half a banana and 1 tablespoon of honey, whip it up in the blender and it makes 2 glasses full, so enough for breakfast and for lunch! Sooooo filling and yum! 205 calories, 1g fat, 34g carb, 9g Protein.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
