Hi, I am five weeks post op and have absolutely no problems with salad or veggies. I also eat strawberries, tangerines and bananas. Of course, the secret is chew, chew, chew. As with all foods, when i don't I REGRET it instantly. My pain is terrible.

I think once we get banded, it will be different and then we have to learn what foods our particular bodies can tolerate.

Hope I answered your question.

best, Helen

Actually salds go down really well for me. They are one of the easier things to eat. Of course you should follow standard advice to take small bites and chew well. I haven't tried them yet since I have gotten a 2nd fill but I probably will this week.

My dietician said to wait until about 6 mo. post op for raw veggies, salads, etc. Keep it soft until then. But, I do get re-evaluated at 3 months post op so we'll see then. I am 4 1/2 weeks post op. Good luck and maybe you should check with your dr. office and see what they recommend for you. Everyone seems to get different instructions.

Thx!

From what my Dr's office told me was to take the membrane out of citrus fruit, and to peal the skin because that will make it really hard to digest and or to go down, the roughage is fibrous type foods, they are not digestable so they push all of the bad stuff out of our system and keep us regular, later on like at least 4-6mths into it i'm sure u can eat it, but your Dr's office should give you a guide of what you can and can't eat. The more clear you are on this the more successful you will be and the weight will come off with no problem.

I was banded 3/10 and I started salads right at the 6 week point. I have had no trouble at all.....Just be sure to chew!

I was told no salad for 6 weeks, but I was afraid so I waited a little over two months and had no problem. I was terrified of eating bread as well. I've eaten three times now. Twice with no problem and a third time with "regrets". It just depends.

My surgeon/nut said at 8 weeks everything is free game. I can't wait either. I have been craving salad/fresh spinach like crazy!!
