Alright, so I am not sure about how appropriate this is to talk about, but my fiance and I had a serious discussion about how long we will have to go before we can be intimate after my surgery. Now I know this is personal and I am not asking for details, just wondering what sort of wait period people needed to take. Thanks for the info and hope I didn't offend anyone.

Hi shan, My doc went over this with the support group. You can start exercising 8 weeks out after banding. This includes what your speaking of, just go at a slow pace at first then build up to what your use to. Your incisions will tell you if your able to go the whole way.

HAHAHAHA...8 weeks without sex. I think I would have killed somebody. We waited a few days, Shannon. As long as you don't go buckwild, you should be okay. Sex does not have to be strenuous if your partner understands they have to do a little bit more of the heavy work for a bit.

LOL!! Steph co you are too funny!

Every doctor has a different rule about this. My discharge instructions suggested a one week wait!

You will know based on how you are feeling. But yeah, just don't go buckwild!

My instructions were, do it when you feel up to it. So we waited about one week. Just be careful, dont overdo it and everything will be fine.

8 WEEKS?? :) Oh hell no!!! I am with Steph, someone would have been severely injured. My doc said when we felt up to it as well. I believe we waited about 10 days. Then we were just careful to not have dh put any pressure on my tummy or port.

Thanks so much you guys. I was so nervous about asking! Yea the thought of waiting 8 weeks made me a little weak in the knees, too long, but I guess it will be like most things, when the body feels better I will know. But really glad to hear there were no firm restriction. My fiance and myself thank you all!!! :)

I think I waited a week to a week and a half. Just depends on when you feel like it. The only problem I had was a little port pain, you might just have to get a little creative with your position(s).:)

LOL -- there are other things you can do to help DH/fiancee/boyfriend out while waiting that week to 10 days til you feel up to it. :)

Too funny. I think we waited like 2 days. We also only waited 3 days after I had a c section with our son. I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who doesn't want to do without!!

Get ready Shannon, I have found that the more weight I lose, the more sex we have!!! We won't be able to get out of the bedroom before I am at goal.

Maybe you get on top initially? His weight on your port area may be a little sore. Believe me, he won't argue. I waited about 10 days or so. the improvements in the bedroom as you lose weight are immeasurable. Trust me. You have something to look forward to.... LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
