was anyone approved through peachstate?

Recommended Posts

I have peachstate health insurance and i have made up my mind that i really want to get lap band. I am 25 and have a BMI of 41. I do not really know the process that i am to go through.. i need some advice. I went to a primary doctor to see if i could get a refferal for a surgeon. My doctor told me that he wanted to give me a blood test for metobolic syndrome. So that is where i am now. I have another appointment with him in a few days to get my results. Do i just wait on him to refer me? Do i call a surgeon ahead of time. I am so confused! Any Suggestions?!?!

I am so happy to find someone else who has Peach State! I also has it and I am awaiting my approval! What I did first was go to 2 seminars to decide which centerr I wanted to go with , once I decided on Peachtree surgical and bariatric I went to m PcP and showed m what medical clearances I needed, within a month I had all of my clearances and I turned them in to the dr. and they turned my paperwork into Peach State on Wednesday. Prayerfully, I will receive my approval within 7-14 day. It has actually been very simple!

Oh I forgot to ask is this Peach State through Ga better health (medicaid)? Well I hope I could answer any questions u have feel free to contact me. Also, I really suggest Peachtree Surgical and Bariatric! They are an awesome office they really care and there's no waiting list! Dr. Duncan is one of the best bariatic surgeons in te US. Check out the website . peachtreebariatric.com

Thank you so much for replying to my question. Yes my peachstate is through Ga Medicaid. I did have Welcare but then after looking on the web it seemed like more people where having sucess with Peachstate. Please please please keep me imformed to let me know if you get approved...it will be so interesting. I will diffantly look into going to Peachtree bariactrics. I have been wondering who i could go to that accepted peachstate. Also i did not want to be on a waiting list. 25 years of being overweight is long enough lol. I wonder if going to a seminar is required? I am going to go check out their Website. Thank you so much! Keep me informed!

No problem Ashley! I too am excited to talk to someone who can relate. I have been praying all day for speedy approval! I defintely agree that 25 yrs of being obese is too much! As for the seminar being required it is, at the seminar they give u your registration packet to fill out, also a step by step list of what u need to provide, test u need, and how to submit for approval. No surgeon will see u until you go to the seminar. I hope this info helps

By they way, where do u live in Ga? I live in Lawrenceville.

I looked on the site you suggested and saw where they were having a seminar on may 17th. Perfect timing, now that my semester at school is over. I am gonna go! I live in Columbus Ga. That is 100 miles south of ATL, but it is worth the trip to get a good certified surgeon. I will see what all they have to say there, i hope i can talk a friend into going with me...i dont know if i want to take my boyfriend, kinda embarrising lol. Keep in touch and i will let you know how it goes with me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
