i had my surgery on monday, april 21st. things went good, i suppose. i spent one night in the hospital because i live 4 hours away from the surgeon.

i never saw my surgeon or anyone from his office except for right before the operation. is that normal?? i saw (2) hospital residents the morning i got discharged but i don't think either of them knew what kind of surgery i had because when i mentioned "port pain" he touched one of the incisions that was NOT the port.

i'm a little disappointed in my surgeon. here it is... day #3 and not even a phone call.

Congrats on being banded! I hope you are doing well.

I don't blame you for being disappointed in no one calling you or the doctor not checking on you before you were discharged. That does seem a bit odd to me. It would definately make me feel that I wasn't valued as a patient.

Where did you have it done? How much did you pay? I'm sorry you had a bad experience. Hope your follow up care goes better for you!

i was a self pay patient and it cost me $13,000. the surgeon has a great reputation and even answers questions on the threads here and maybe that's why i'm so disappointed. i expected better customer service from him. do you think i should contact him?

I'd be pretty cranky at that. I think it's poor patient care on his part. This is all the contact I've had with my Dr and his team:

*I had to see the nurse for my first appointment.

*I had 2 appointments with the surgeon.

*The day of surgery he came to check on me and inserted the cannula himself.

*Then the next morning he came to check on me again.

*One week to the day of surgery the nurse rang me to check I was ok.

*I had my pre-op appointment 3 weeks after surgery and first fill.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
