Any one feel worse?

Recommended Posts

I have lost about 55lbs in the last 9 months & instead of feeling better like most I have read/seen, I feel worse. My body is all weird shaped now, I am not losing as much/as fast as I hoped (totally my fault and I am working on that now ;P). I am more shy then I used to be. I dunno, anyone else feel like this?

Probably not what you want to hear, but 55 lbs in 9 months is fantastic. I'm not sure how much you had hoped you'd lose, but those are great results even if you have a long way to go.

I understand the "weird shaped" -- my belly looks awful right now. Not just saggy but weirdly lumpy, like the fat is being burned off unevenly. It does give me more motivation to keep going and burn off the remaining fat. Then there's the whole issue of clothing being more fitted as you get into smaller sizes. If your body isn't the standard shape of the clothing, it's more obvious than before.

Do you think the shyness is tied to the attention you are getting now that you didn't used to get. I know sometimes obese people are practically invisible, and once you lose a bunch and you realize people are paying attention to you and "seeing" you now, it can be a bit scary.

Hang in there. Keep working on losing the weight. And really, sometimes talking to a counselor to work through these issues can be really helpful. I've done it in the past and probably will again on this journey.

Oh yeah! I have felt that a way during a few times. Right now, I'm feeling great, so I can understand why it's so weird to feel worse! Like, I was sure my gut was getting bigger; it was the rest of me shrinking and all I could focus on was my stomach sticking out. It still is...I need some PS to get rid of it. BUT, I think it's a normal progression thru the process. You will adjust and it will get better. Your weight loss is amazing. Good for you! It's hard at times. Give yourself time and cut yourself some slack. It will get better!!!

Once (just once), I weighed 199 pounds and it was an odd odd feeling. I was some where between Lane Bryant and "normal" clothes -- I couldn't find anything that fit just right.

I was getting tooooo many compliments. It was all just a bit too much -- too many changes too quickly.

I didn't stay 199 for long :tongue_smilie:

All of this to say -- while it may seem strange that you're having those feelings, I don't think it's altogether uncommon.

Hang in there.

Overall I feel MUCH better. My knees don't hurt. I sleep better because I'm not choking for air and snoring, so I feel rested. I have more energy and can do more things. But I do have a few things that now bother me. I have little twinges and pains in my tummy. If I overdo my exercise my port area gets sore. I have constant gas and burp all the time. It's embarassing. I constantly battle Constipation. those are the irritating little things I now have to contend with, but I would rather have to put up with those things any day than feel like I used to. I'm slowly eliminating my meds, I have a sex life again. Life is good. I'll take a little bit of bad along with the lot of good.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
