OT: Help, my Jade plant is dying..

Aren't these plants really difficult to kill? Leave it to me. So, all you green thumbs out there, what do I do with this pitiful thing? I'd like to put it in a prettier pot (obviously) but do I replant the whole ugly thing? or do I cut off what's left of the good stuff before it dies, too? Does this pic even give you a clue about what can be done? I am at a loss, and I'm about to trash the thing, but when it's pretty...well, it's a beautiful plant! I had it indoors, but it was falling apart and I stuck it on the deck rail during a misty rain, watered it slightly, and, well, here it is...help!!

And here's the Baker's Rack in front of the French Door window where I keep these poor boogers...the best light I have in the house. I'm sunk.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa uuuuuuuuuuuuhaaaaaaaaaaaaa ((breathing into my paper bag))

Okay, first off, the aloe vera plant needs a bigger pot. It is crowded. It will be fine.

As for the jade.... uuuuuuuuuuuuuuhaaaaaaaaaaa uuuuuuuuuuuhaaaaaaaaaaaa ((back to my paper bag))

I swear I am going to send you money and confiscate the plant at some point. What happened to the other snippets? The picture may be showing a discoloration but is the jade purple?

Jessebear, I know you can't see the bakers rack very well in the pic above, but on the top shelf is a "Pothos"? plant like the one you posted. I actually do very well with that one. The second shelf holds an ivy plant that came from a greenery basket someone sent to us at my grandmother's funeral over 10 years ago. It has sentimental value and does okay, but it's barely getting by. The stems are thin and leaves are small. It could be so much better. The bottom shelf holds the Aloe, and behind it, the evil Jade.

YES! ROTFLMAO

I'm so sorry. The color is right. That's why I was so shocked at the beautiful green plump leaves on Jessiebears Jade! Mine looks NOTHING like that. Yep...purple.

Oh Jenna,

Your cracking me up here! I really shouldnt tell you this cuz I think it may throw you over the edge.... but.... We have discovered Home Depot plant department, they are so cheap there I can buy a big ole plant and keep it (if Im lucky) about 4 months before it is completely dead, then just go back and purchase a new one. And know that I am not buying these just to kill them, I keep trying differnt ones hoping one day one will take to me and want to grow in my house. Just have not found the proper plant yet.

p.s. I have given up on flowers.

Who saw that movie "Seven"? Rememmber the psycho who kept that guy on death's door for years? They thought they found a dead body but it took a breath! The psycho gave him just enough IV fluids to keep him alive, but starved him enough for so many years that he had only enough brain function to beat his heart and take a breath. Sick Sick Sick

That's how I feel with my Jade...like the psycho who only does enough to barely sustain it's pitiful little life. Only it isn't intentional! SIGH. I can't seem to just throw out the darn thing. Why can't I just let it go to Jade Heaven? Be done with it! I KNOW it isn't happy!

I'm going with j.s. to Home Depot.

J.S., Kathy..........I am rolling over here!!!!! I'm glad I'm not alone. Sorry Jenna!! A jade with hypoxia! That was good!!

OH my gosh you guys are hillarious. I have a plant like that (jade) but it gets little flowers is it a jade plant? I always thought it was called a rubber plant also. I have lots of plant and can grow just about anything but I have no clue what they are. LOL I have an Asparagus Fern that is over 12 feel long...had to hang it in my stairwell because it got so long.

Why is your jade plant purple? Looks like it is hyperventillating...LOL Jenna I think it need your bag or an oxygen mask..LOL

Hi Jessiebear,

the plant on your first picture # 27 looks like an orchid; the second one is a Pothos as someone readily identified and the third one is an Christmas Cactus.

If your Jade does not survive (I hope it does - but I would be more then happy to send you a new one- my DH would be ever so gratefull about me getting rid of some of my plants, LOL). Or if anybody else would like to have one :rolleyes - just let me know.

Maybe we could trade some plants - as long as nobody tells my DH! :heh:
