Band friendly fast food...

Recommended Posts

...ok, so I know that ideally we will be grilling fish and steaming veggies for the rest of our lives but the fact is, I don't cook unless it's a matter of life or death.

What kind of band friendly fast foods have you discovered?

I'm lovin' Taco Bell's pintos and Beans or a Baja chicken chalupa without the shell.

Yay!!! Jax is back!!!! Mmmmm. I love, love, LOVE chili and that is one of the few things I know how to cook! I think I might make some up and freeze it in small portions.

Thanks for the new idea!

Jax, I have the world's easiest (and tastiest!) chili recipe. It's super simple or I couldn't do it!

One can of red kidney Beans.

One can of diced tomatoes.

One package of Chili-O chili mix. (The best!)

One pound of ground hamburger.

That's it, honest to goodness and it is DELICIOUS!!!

I like to buy those pre-diced onions and green peppers from the frozen food section and saute them and add them to the hamburger while it's cooking to make it a little more substantial. Good stuff!

When my kids get a happy meal from McDonalds, I get a grilled chicken w/no bun. I went to the McD's website and they have a feature where you can find the nutritional information for their foods by component, so I found out that their grilled chicken only has 120 cal w/no bun, no mayo, etc. The filet o fish w/no bun and no tartar sauce isn't bad either. That's all I've tried as far as fast food goes, though. Oh, I have had a plain baked potato from a local place a couple of times.

I'll be watching this thread because I hate to cook too. LOL

Milkshakes. They go down so easy.

Just kidding of course! :tongue_smilie:

When I go to Fast food places, I just get a sandwich (burger, chicken or fish, whatever sounds good at the time) and remove the bun. Not totally healthy, but not something I'll totally give myself a complex over either. I don't do that often enough to worry about it. Besides, I can never finish it anyway.

However, I think Taco Bell might have some of the best choices. Someone in my support group even mentioned it the other day. He likes to run through the TB DT and get a bean/cheese burrito. Lots of Protein, not many calories and most likely you can't even finish the whole thing.

I don't cook, don't even know how. (That is man work in my house!!) But I do have kids, and we don't go to much fast food. But when we do, I always pick subway. I have had some serious trouble getting bread down, so I switched to wraps. I had the same trouble! Now I am trying the salads. They use shredded lettuce, so I think it goes down easier.

But I live in a very depressed town, and we don't have many choices. McD's, BK and Taco Bell. Probably for the best. There was a time, not too long ago, that I was a firm believer that cars were made so that we could utilze the drive thru, not the other way around.

Gibson and Jax, making things and freezing them is a great idea!! Why didn't I think of that?

I can eat the nuggets at McDonalds. I can eat the topping off pizza and then a little bit of the crust, (but I dont like it anyway), if we have fish and chips I just have a potato cake (which will mean nothing to most of you, lol, its an aussie thing). Quite often, if its fast food I will elect to just have some Soup or something instead or just have a coffee. I just dont enjoy it much these days, I tend to stand and stare at the menu board for ages and just not really want any of it.

I dont a hve too much trouble in proper restaurants, I can eat most non junk food, but I will always go for a caesar salad or some other type of salad because they're super easy.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
