Amount to unfill for a cruise??

For those of you who had an unfill for either a vacation and/or cruise, how much would you recommend? I am at 8.75 and can't really eat much that isn't mush. This restriction works for me. However, I am going on a cruise to Alaska the first of May and I would like to be able to eat something. Has anyone done an unfill for this reason and how did it work? I'm getting filled back to normal when I return.

Thanks for your help.

Kandice, I can't understand why you would want to get unfilled. It's so many of us out here looking for good restriction that its just unbelievable to me. I can see you getting unfilled if you have to much restriction and can't eat but to go on a cruise is another subject. My husband and I are going on a cruise in August and I want to lose 40 more pounds by then but I certainly don't want to get an unfill to go on the cruise. I will take my WLS card with me in hopes of being able to eat off the children or seniors menu but if not oh well we are going to be on vacation and will just take the food back to our cabin for him to eat off of later. I also have the option of eating off his plate and just ordering me a salad. I just ask that you revisit your decision and if you are going to get unfilled do it for your health not for the cruise. If you unfill this time for a cruise what are you going to do for all the other vacations that you will be taking in the future?

Sorry you only read my initial post and not my clarifications down below. I got a .5 cc unfill because I couldn't eat solid food. I was going to go on my cruise in that state, but it gets embarassing when I throw up anything more solid than cream of wheat and usually the cream of wheat also. I agree, I wouldn't open up the restriction to just be able to eat MORE...but to just be able to eat PERIOD.

It wasn't a good post. I just keep my restriction too tight because I am driven to reduce my weight. It is counterproductive and I didn't loose any more weight during that last week though I lost 7 pounds the week before.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yes being too tight is worse than having no restriction IMHO... Staying too tight in order to lose weight quickly is also not a healthy option in my opinion either - you can cause damage to your stomach and this (the band) could be used as a tool for eating disorder too - We can go from one extreme (eating too much) to the opposite (not eating enough)

I am glad to hear that you are now able to eat regular foods - Have fun on your cruise:biggrin: - I love cruises I have been on 8 - it's the only way to vacation - Watch out for those liquid calories - ie drinks of the Day - they are always so great :rolleyes2:
