Vomit is my friend. =)

Hey guys, I'm so glad to be back and I'm ecstatic to actually have restriction for the first time!!!!

I don't want to alarm anyone into thinking bulimia is my goal (based on my thread title!) BUT, I was never so happy to vomit as I was this week. I had my first fill and was a good girl and stayed on liquids for two days, then on the third day I tried to eat the inside of a beef and cheese taco. I ate slowly, everything went down well....or so I thought. The next thing I knew I was sliming and proceeded to hurl my guts out! I was ELATED!!!! Yes, yes, I know that I can't make vomiting a habit or my band will slip but...I HAD RESTRICTION!!!!! I actually, FINALLY, had a physical reaction to being banded! I was beginning to think the whole surgery was a cruel hoax and I was going to be totally on my own with this thing. I cannot tell you how relieved I am now that I feel like I'm a real bandster!!! I'm drinking my three Protein Shakes a day, drinking all my Water, and eating solid food as tolerable (baked fish, veggies, chili.)

As many of you know, my surgeon typically waits eight weeks for the first fill. Well, after gaining back all of the weight I'd lost on my two-week liquid diet the FIRST WEEK I went back on semi-solid foods, I realized I was going to need a fill much sooner. So, I basically begged, pleaded, harassed, and harangued my surgeon's office staff until one of them finally agreed to ask the doctor if I could come in at six weeks for a fill. He agreed and here I am! (Just a note to those of you who have surgeons with very conservative fill practices. Do not take no for an answer! If you can eat anything and everything in sight you NEED A FILL!)

I am delighted to tell you that since my first fill I have lost all the weight I regained and an extra pound to boot! Now I'm just praying that this heavenly restriction lasts and I won't have to white knuckle my weight loss for the next three months.

This optimistic feeling is so new to me. I LOVE BAND LAND!!!!!

Way to go Gibson! I'm so happy to see you back sweetie  And big congratz on losing all the weight . . . keep eating the healthy stuff and you'll be telling all of us those NSV's! I'm glad you have restriction, do you know how many cc's were added to your band?

That's great, Gibson. Well, not the vomiting, but that you have a restriction. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

I had a similar experience before my first fill and I am so glad I managed to get one early. I was supposed to have my first one this week, but I had it 2 weeks ago. Between my pre-op appointment 8 days before surgery and my post-op appt 10 days after, I lost 27 lbs. I went on purees and in a week, I gained back 8 lbs. If I hadn't had a fill when I did, I have no doubt I would've gained back the whole amount I lost. Within a week of the fill, I lost those 8 lbs plus 2 more. It will be three weeks since my fill on Monday and I've lost a total of 11 new lbs since the fill. I'm not supposed to have another fill until May, so I'm worried and hope I can hold out that long.

The lbs will drop for you now!!

Hey Lori and Jaime! I had a 3cc fill in a 10cc, Large AP Band. I'm not scheduled to go back until July so I'm praying hard that I can hold out that long for another fill. Otherwise, I'll be harassing the girls at the office again. (I know they hate me but I DON'T CARE! I'm losing weight again!) Muahahahahahah!!!!

Thanks, Gibson! You'll be there before you know it! I think I may have the advantage of already having 2ccs in my 10cc band from surgery. I still have some restriction. It's fading, though. I get a 1cc fill this Thursday...8 weeks and 2 days after my surgery! I'm so ready!

Gibson..you're such a cutie! We missed you around here. Although, I've been pretty scarce myself. I'm so glad you're feeling restriction and feel like a "bandster". I've had two fills (one cc each time) and haven't felt a thing!! If I couldn't feel my port thru my skin, I'd swear I didn't have the band!! I go back for my 3rd fill on 4/24 and I'm going to throw down some whoop-ass on my doc if he doesn't get this thing going!! Fortunately, I'm still holding strong with eating well (give or take a few lap band confessions here and there) and am exercising a lot. Hope to join you in the vomitorium soon Gibson....:puke:LOL!!!!

-Amy

I'm so happy for you Gibson, that you have restriction and on your weight loss. Of course I'm not happy about your vomiting... so I hope you won't be eating anymore of those taco insides! Take it easy, listen to your band and you will in twoderville in no time!

You didn't vomit, you "PBed" - not an entirely accurate term, but it's the one most well-known. Please don't confuse the two, because if you tell someone "I vomitted" then medical advice, course of action, potential consequences, etc. are very different than if you tell them "I PBed" or "stuck food came up".

I posted in the 50's thread my 'Now I am a bandster' story. I understand completely - you are not delighted that food made a reverse trip up your gullet, but it does confirm that you have a band, and it is working!

Once is quite enough; I hope not to repeat the experience. But truly, it is like I passed an initiation rite so I belong, I really belong!

Congratulations!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
