Hi Everyone,

I saw my surgeon yesterday and am scheduled for the 5th of April! :laugh I'm so excited! He uses the "Swedish Band" which I'm not familiar with....does anyone know about it? I thought I saw someone who had it in their signature....

I still have a few tests and if all is well it's a go so wish me luck!

One funny thing that happened was the dietician asked me how I have dieted and I of course have been on every diet known to man including acupuncture and I told her that the only real success I had was when we could get anphetamines and she rolled her eyes and said that was terrible they could kill you and I just laughed (being the sarcastic one) and said well lets see, I could take a pill everyday for the rest of my life and achieve the same or better results (and I wouldn't be here now) or I can opt to have them open me up, mush around my insides with metal insturments which can puncture something and put a bunch of plastic in me which could, slip, leak, bond to my stomach, be rejected or have wound infections not to mention the risk of having surgery period...gee which one do you think is more attractive if it was available? Even she had to laugh at that......:devious

When I saw my surgeon he was sort of leaning toward convincing me to do the bypass but I told him that was more extreme than even I would do...

I know it's been said, but I have to say it again...thank you all for sharing your experiences, positive and negative..it makes the decision an informed one instead of a shot in the dark.

D

Saudi Arabia?!!!! Wow! Good job on sticking with the band, and giving the dietician "what-for" that's funny! The Swedish Band has been difficult for some of the folks in the US because the Inamed Band is the only one FDA Approved. It's hard to get a local Dr to follow along with a non-FDA Band. There are a few here who have them, and I'm sure they will speak up. You getting it done locally should be no problem. Do a search on "Swedish Band" and see what post come up. Happy researching! I'll add you to the April 2005 Bandsters thread under support. Keep us posted!!

Thank you all....this is wonderful...

I've been doing some research and decided to hell with it...we plan on being here for another couple of years and I'll worry about that leg of follow-up if necessary then....

Ciao for now!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
