Have you kept the weight off ?

Recommended Posts

I had to have my band removed a couple of weeks ago, I had had my band for 3 years and am at target, and was just wondering if anybody in similar circumstances has managed to keep there weight off after band removal (mine was due to slippage). There is no way I want any more surgery it was all very traumatic.

Just wondering.

Hi gaynor! How are you doing so far?

I lost my band 2-13-08 due to erosion. I was about 25 pounds away from goal. So far, I've managed to maintain my weight loss, but I haven't been able to lose any more. (I've been working my butt off, too.) I hear that a lot of people gain the weight back and I'm fighting it with everything I have.

Good luck in keeping the weight off. I'm right there with you.

Hello Gaynor,

I had my band removed in December 07 due to a slip. Not only have I maintained, but have managed to loose 10 lbs. I told myself "I refuse to be the person who got the surgery and did not loose weight".

Honestly, the band has taught me so much in a mere 4 months. One thing I continue to do is chew chew chew. I find that I am fuller faster and that I cannot eat nearly as much as I used to.

Also, I cannot emphasise enough the importance of excersice. Not only does it help me maintain my weight, it helps with my focus, moods, and energy.

Best of luck to you, and if you ever feel like venting or talking to someone, I'll be here ;)

Thanks Guys

its nice to hear some positive posts. I do think that I relied to heavilly on my band anyway. I am really hoping I can stay at goal. Def agree about the exercise. When I am fit (still healing at the moment) I walk at least 45 mins in the morning and try to do the same in the evening. I have 3 dogs so thay keep me pretty fit.

Thanks again you have both made me feel so much better. We can do it

HSH and gaynor,

Thanks for your posts. It's reassuring knowing I'm not in this alone. It's not going to be an easy fight, but WE CAN DO IT!

Maybe we should start a keeping the weight off after lap-band removal support thread and start out own little support group. What'd ya'll think? We could check in every once in a while and keep each other in check. ^_^

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
