You have to go on a liquid program before the Lap Band? I am so scared of this surgery.

I'm not yet banded but in my research I have read where some doctors want their patients to go on a liquid diet to shink the liver. A smaller liver makes it easier for the doctor to perform his task.

Hi Stacie and other April banders,

We can do this, yes its one of the hardest diets I've ever been on. But we all know hard work pays off. I just keep visualizing myself in a size 12 and that makes me want to run on and see what the end is going be. lol

I was told the Protein Drinks had to be 15 grams of Protein and less than 15 grams of carbs. I find the more protein I get the less hungry I am. I also blend them up with ice which helps fill me up too. Can you drink Crystal Light and have SF popsicles and Jello? Being able to have those has greatly helped me.

My band date is May 13th. I have to do a 4wk pre-op diet that consists of 2 Protein Shakes a day (35gms of proteineach), one Protein snack (15gms) and one sensible meal. I'm on the surgeon's waiting list so I have already started the stuff. I use the Bariatrix also and find it to be higher in protein than some of the other's I see being used. I think this really helps me to feel fuller and satisfied much longer. So far, 4days and no problems. I mix my shakes with choc Syrup in the strawberry one, coffe and choc in the vanilla, coconut in the vanilla, etc to help break the routine.

According to my paper that I got from My dr is to drink slim fast, Advantage, or Edge 3 times a day. Yes you can drink crystal light. He told me that I can drink anything that is CLEAR..Chicken broth or beef broth...I just buy the Soup in the can and strain it and let my neice eat the noodles. But every Dr is different. My surgry is april 14 and I only have 12 days to be on the diet before surgry..I hope this helps some people..

I will be banded April 17. I started my diet Thursday but I have already cheated. I ate pizza and garlic bread, but I only ate 2 slim fast and and apple and lots of Water. I am promising myself that I will not cheat anymore. I have read that other people did not fast for 2 full weeks so I am hoping that by being good for the rest of the time I will be ok>>

I don't have to do a pre liquid diet except two days before...eat light and then do my clean out??? They want us off sugar and caffine though before...and bad carbs.

Good Luck everyone...I think I will do a real modified diet the whole week before so clean out is easier...

new to the board and also new to learning about the Lap Band.

You have to go on a liquid program before the Lap Band?

I am so scared of this surgery. I guess of all the stories about gastric bypass. It seems safe but aprehensive here.

Actually, my doctor put me on a pre-op low carb diet, not a liquid diet. He feels weight is lost quicker on a low carb diet than on a liquid. I am glad about that as I can eat low fat cheese and eggs and all the proten I love so it makes it that much easier. I haven't read of anyone else though being on a low carb pre=-p diet besides me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
