GO TO THE GYM! As far as "biting the bullet" and being over-filled---there's a difference between adjusting to being tighter and having to have mostly liquids/soft foods versus having really bad reflux and being really sick. Look at the rest of what you're doing if you're not losing. Are you eating the right foods? Are you drinking enough Water? Are you regularly moving? Are you measuring what you eat? Good luck, Heidi. Check in with your surgeon, even if you don't get a fill!

Page,

No I am NOT eating the right foods at all. I'm not doing anything I should be. I'm being very "bad" :smile2:. I was not so overfilled before that I was throwing up or anything. It was just tighter than any other time. I was sliming a bit too. I was affraid I wouldn't be able to eat enough to lose weight. Now I'm not eating right anyway. KWIM?

Hi tinywishes and thanks for starting this thread!

Exercise! I get SOOO fatigued. My legs feel like noodles

after taking a mild walk. I am eating mostly Protein now and plenty of liquids. Have potassium rich vegetables also. Still fatigued, and wasn't that way pre-band.

Will it ever perk up?

Luv2teech...you are really looking forward to the meetings! They are not until the 13th and the 21st if I read right. I am one, although I am type A, who waits until the day before to make my final decision..I am leaning towards the Brigh this month mainly because of the traffic I encountered going in to Faulkner around Sox/Fenway Park time. Have to leave so much earlier, whereas the time is made up for in that short distance to the Brigh. The Faulkner was a great open group(although I didn't say much in my newby stage of the process).

My first fill will be in a week so I know there will be something to 'share' common to others... Meanwhile I congregate on the May Bandsters board lately where we talk about gas, food, gas, lack of food, gas, first fills, gas, PB-ing, gas.....newby comiseration!

Hope all are having a great weekend..Jay, Viv, IBelieve,Thinking et al.

Love your craft blog, Heidi.

Jay,

Sorry I missed you at the office today. Wasn't able to get there early as I hoped. The support group meetings are both the same week this month--the 14th and 15th. Which one do you guys intend to go to? I know it's two weeks off, but I like to have my life all planned. :rolleyes2:

I had a fill today and already feel better than the last time I had a fill---except he had a hard time accessing my port today. (I knew the port has felt funky during my ab workouts! He said something about it being "tilted" today and he's never said that before. I thought it should be pretty much staying where it should be after this much time has passed?!) So I was pushy with him and wouldn't let him give me more than a .5CC fill after the last nightmare. I told him I'd rather come back in 4 weeks than come back again this week because I'm overfilled again. I had a shake when I got home and already notice the difference, but not uncomfortably as I did last time. I love that funky feeling you get when you hear it finally passing through---that bottom of the tub draining kind of thing! I finally have it again!!!

I also asked him about taking Ibuprofen because I have something wrong with my knee. He told me it's ok as long as it's not part of my regular routine---that I should split it and take it with food to be sure it passes ok.

Such an interesting appointment. He wasn't any more personable, but certainly more interested in my "excess skin" again. I can't help but wonder if maybe he gets a cut of the money from the PS if he refers me. (ha, ha, ha--pun intended!) He once again confirmed that insurance won't cover it---like suddenly I had more?!---and that it might not really be something I will need. We'll see. In the meantime, I started my summer camp again and am saving my nickels just in case....

Hope everyone is well. Tiny, I still owe you a birthday drink or 2!!!!

Good challenge! So far so good. Had yogurt for dinner and some mashed potatoes. No issues. The dates were definitely the same week on the flyer posted at the Faulkner today. If anyone is headed in, check them out. I've tried to call, but never get a straight answer!!! Seems to be ok AND am already PMS'ing so it won't get tighter....

my flyer could be old....I think the person responsible for the meetings is the bariatric coordinator but now I cant find her email.

It's been awhile since I've posted..I've just been so busy lately. I just returned from my second post-op with Dr. R and it went good - or he thought it did anyway. At my first appt after surgery, I had lost 17 lbs. It's been 3.5 weeks since that appt and my clothes don't fit - I'm down two sizes in pants. This morning I got on the scale and it was only down 8 lbs. I thought for sure it would be more than that. That brings my total in 7 weeks to 32 lbs. Dr. R said this was going a bit fast and so he didn't give me a fill. I was kind of bummed but I'm having issues getting all the food in as it is and he said that I didn't need a fill because I was losing and I need to eat more.

On a side note, how many of you have scales at home? I don't. I only weigh myself at his office - but I'm contemplating buying one. What do you think?

Are you feeling hungry and grit your teeth to loose? Or is it that you just don;t have any appetite? That is a good loss of weight.

I do own a scale and am addicted to weighing every morning. I also weigh in with a buddy my age(non band dieter) every Sunday over the internet. She weighs once a week.

I also weigh to see what foods cause me to retain Water and have water weight gain. Even some low sodium foods cause that in the summer with me.

So here I am still waiting. It's been about 3 weeks since I last posted and now I'm getting really annoyed. I've called and left messages to Jennifer as to when I can be scheduled for surgery and not even a call back. I've called many times and just hung up, how many messages can one leave on the same thing?!?!!? I think I'm just going to start calling her everyday.

I'm glad you are all doing well.

Congrats on the weight loss ms dollaz. That's a great amount of weight to lose in 7 weeks, you should be proud, not discouraged!

I joined weight watchers and couple of weeks ago and have lost about 9 lbs. I'm struggling a little this week as i'm very stressed and guess what? I'm eating. I told myself I wouldn't join the gym until I lose 20 lbs. reason being, I tend to gain muscle quickly and the whole muscle weighs more than fat thing really discourages me when I work soo hard and lose nothing!

I had a question about fills. Does insurance cover any of them or are they all out of pocket? I can see that getting expensive especially when you have to keep going, or get overfilled etc.

Happy 4th everyone. We may actually see the sun this weekend. I almost forget what it looks like!

Just a FYI I used to e mail Dr Vernon, got better responses.

Has anyone ever tried e-mailing dr. robinson directly? I don't know if that is frowned upon. I guess I could and just tell him what's up?! That I'm not getting any response.

I find that if you call her around 9am - you can get her on the phone. I was trying to get an appt with the nutritionist and she would never call me back so I just emailed Sari Kalin directly and she got me an appt.

I think since Jennifer is pregnant - she is loosing her umph a little. I find calls go unreturned as well. I would just keep calling and calling and calling until she either answers or calls you back. If you have Dr. R's email - email him! I understand you may not want to throw Jennifer under the bus but there comes a point when you have to do what you have to do!

Singing..no I'm not hungry really. I'm just neurotic about the diet.

I go for my fill tomorrow.

You can bet that before I leave that office I whip out my calendar and make a date for the next office visit!

That I have learned to do after many many fruitless phone call attempts in the past.

Hey, y'all...wish me luck on my 1st fill!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
