Thanks for the welcome, all!

Heidi - Do you know if Dr. V (or her nurses) have fill clinics? At my last appointment, I was telling Dr. L's nurse how I was apprehensive about all of the upcoming appointments because I worked such long hours and getting to Longwood from Cambridge made a "lunch break" a long shot...I didn't see how I could get all that time off and keep it hush, hush (yah, I'm a non-teller).

Anyway, she mentioned that Dr. L has fill clinics starting at 7AM. I believe they're weekly (maybe monthly), and no appointment necessary. Maybe Dr. V does something similar? I know you have kids and a long commute, but it might be worth it this time prior to vaca!

He has 7am fill appts? I didnt know that. Ive been trying to book as early as I can to minimize the time I miss from work. After a year or so all of these appts get old....real old.

Also they should have the new PA trained soon so that may help with fills. Though I havent heard anything about it in a long time. Next person whos is at the Brigham i should ask about it and report back here.

I drink CIB everyday with ice and bananas for Breakfast. LOVE them!!!! Anyone try the Protein Shakes at Starbucks? With skim milk its 270 calories and 23 (?) grams of Protein. They are a bit expensive but hit the spot when I am running around doing errands.

I switch to buying my vitimins at Trader Joe's, I think they are cheaper. I do take b-12 every day and I think it does make difference. I think Walmart has good prices as well.

good for you Heidi...Ive only started to run and can only do it for no more than a minute at a time...which does disappoint me. I think I am just a wimp. :) I had a hard time with the sports bra bc of my size and had to invest in a good one...try looking at Kohls.

I was riding the gravy train of what I thought was a sweet spot there for a while but I think it was more hormones. Ive been eating horrible the past few days and seemed to be very hungry. Now my calories are doubled!!! Ugh. Sorry to hear the storm messed up your fill appt...I have one at the very end of March. Not sure if that would help you. Or try to get a cancelation?

Welcome soxaholic! Ive heard nothing but great things about Dr L. you are in great hands. How awesome that you got your surgery date so fast. I wouldnt worry about your liver, I am sure Dr L can handle it. As for the post-op diet yes its hard but knowing that its not forever and being fixated on that does help.

Oh Tiny, that's so sweet of you but they did offer me march 30th . I'm leaving for my trip on march 28th though. I called doc Robinsons office today to see if I could switch over to him. I don't know if I can.

I guess I'll just go w/ it & NOT try to get a fill. I'm afraid I'l be too tight while out of the country & then I'll be in trouble. I don't know........ WHATEVER!!! I'll just have to TRY really hard to lose what I can. I'll still have a good VA CA no matter what.

Soxaholic~I have no idea if she does this. I've talked to her assistent & she has not metioned this to me. I guess doc V is very busy because she;s taking on another docs work too.

I have not yet heard from a sleep study center for an appt. Was told they would call. But...as usual, I am finding that I probably will have to go after them for an appointment. AAARRRgggh!

I hate waiting.

.

Hey Singing, I was told the sleep study people would call me too, that was almost 2 weeks ago. Haven't heard a thing. I've been playing phone tag with jenn to get my info straight so I can put in my referrals. Nothing was said about the sleep study. (Not looking forward to it) I do have my psych and upper gi appt. scheduled for monday morn. Not looking forward to drinking that nasty stuff.

Looks like you and me are in the same boat. I've only lost like 3 lbs but it's a start and I haven't been perfect. I'm hoping for 10 by my next weigh in a few weeks.

If I were you, I'd politely call and plead ignorance....and ask if there was some reason they forgot to call or just haven't called. Two weeks seems like a long time to wait for a return phone call. I was persistent and got everything done in less than 2 months....though I didn't need a sleeps study. I'd just ask Jennifer what she recommends and how to get through to them....

I know it's a long way off, but is anyone planning on attending the next group meeting? If I have the dates right it should be on the 17th which is also St. Patrick's day. Just trying to make plans and if not many are going to go I might skip also. I'm getting kind of disheartened with this process at the moment.

I hope everyone is doing well

If Ya'll aren't going, you'd better tell me soon. In our school system it's called EVACUATION DAY and that means it's a day off for me. I was going to go because I figured you all would be there!!!

I work for a state college and we also have "evacuation day" off. I have to be there for a fill, so if people are going, I'll be there.

Well, if THAT'S the case, then maybe you and I should meet after your fill, and since you can only have liquids, have a few drinks BEFORE the meeting? Sure would make the meeting more interesting. You entertain me sober...I can't imagine how hard I'd laugh at you drunk!!!!!

I can have liquor after a fill? You just turned my black and white world to color again! And on a day when it's socially acceptable to drink during the daytime!

Currently I'm waiting to hear from my PCP, because I suspected one of my incisions was getting infected, and Dr. R. is also supposed to call to tell me if I have to come in and have him look at the area. I hope he says no, I can't take another day off. Well I can but I just don't want to.

Any of you ever get pain behind or around your port? Lately I have had these weird twinges of aches on my port side. It's not horrible, but if it was on my band side, I'd probably have gone to my doctor....I just don't see any reason to have the soreness from my port. I had surgery over 14 months ago and haven't had a fill since the end of November......AND it doesn't feel like the pain is coming from the port--it's behind and around the port, but too high to be menstrual pain.....ugh!

Um...I have twinges once in awhile but it's only been 5 months for me. I don't know? I don't know why you'd have soreness now. I'd tell your doc about it.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
