Hi from Atlanta, GA.

Recommended Posts

Am I glad I stumbled upon this forum. It seems very imformative and seems to have a lot of people that have had the procedure.

I am gathering information about the procedure and have visited a doctors office in Atlanta about the surgery. I am looking forward to having the surgery but have not made a committment to any doctor yet. The office I visited seemed kind of pushy, wanting me to have the surgery right away. It could have just been me but that was the vibe I was getting fromt he staff.

Has anyone had the surgery in Atlanta? Does anyone have recommendation of doctors or offices to stay away from?

I am from Lawrenceville, GA. Since my insurance won't cover anything I am having mine done in Monterrey Mexico. I spoke to Emory Bariatrics which was recommended to me. Due to costs and the length of time I would have to wait, I decided Mexico with Dr. Zapata was the way to go. I can get fills in Roswell GA. Look in fillusa.com

Hi and welcome to LBT!

Definitely don't let anyone push you into having the surgery until you are comfortable with the idea of having it and confident in the surgeon you have picked. I would suggest posting on the "physicians and hospitals" thread, and possibly the local Georgia thread as well. You might have better luck getting some responses there.

Thanks for the info. I actually live just north of Atlanta. The tornadoes were in the same county that I live. I did not go out yesterday, just listened for the tornado sirens and took cover when they were close.

Hi,

I live in Ball Ground and I am scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday. I am using Dr. Hart at Atlanta Bariatrics and seem pleased. Glad to hear you didn't get blown away from the storms. Downtown is a mess I hear.

Hello and welcome! I live in Atlanta too!

I am scheduled for May 6th with True Results Weight Loss, and my surgeon is also Dr. Hart. Nobody there was pushy about trying to talk me into the surgery, however one of the women wanted to get me scheduled sooner than I wanted. I had to go back into the office for a test and I just rescheduled with a different person.

I liked Dr. Hart a lot when I met him and what I've heard about him has all been positive.

I am also from Lawrenceville! I am going to TJ Mexico to be banded by Dr. Ortiz. I'm self pay and the $24,000 it would cost for me to be banded in Atlanta is just too much for me. I really didn't want to finance it, so I decided to look into Mexico. It's $8,000 for everything except airfare and Dr. Ortiz has a great reputation.

I'm going to fillusa.com in Roswell for my fills as well.

We had a hard hale storm yesterday, but after it went away, the sun came out! My office building is the Centennial Tower right across the street from CNN and the Dome. Our floor suffered no damage, but the upper floors had windows blown out. They were pretty much replaced by yesterday evening.

It's amazing that so few were injured! When I left work Friday evening the sidewalks were packed with people going to the SEC game.

This is the same office I went to. Although I did not meet with Dr. Hart. Let me know how it goes. I am going to a orientation meeting this week with a office in Woodstock. Going to check the prices with this office. I also found one on Canton Hwy in Marietta. Dr. Hart's office was $15,500.

Hi,

I was banded by Dr. Johnson with Atlanta Bariatrics (same office as Dr. Hart) and I have been really happy with everything there..

I think typically they present all the info at the seminar and if you make an appt to see the Doc, they figure you have researched and weighed all the options and are wanting the surgery. Of course the only hold up would be medical clearance at that point.

I think this forum is a great place to get real info about what to expect with a band.

Good luck on your decision, I am very happy with my decision to be banded.

I'm sure you will make the right decision. I live in Ball Ground near Woodstock. Didn't know there was a doctor there. But I had to go to a doctor that used by insurance and I am happy with Dr. Hart. Tomorrow is my big day. A little nervous

Hey there

I'm in Decatur. I had my surgery in Alabama because I am self pay and it was cheaper for me.

Come visit us in the Georgia section in the local bandsters section!

Does anybody know if Dr. Hart will take on a patient banded in Mexico. I live in Lawrenceville and since I am a self pay because my insurance wouldn't cover anything, I went where I could. If not I guess I will use fillusa in Roswell.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
